Liberal actor Martin Sheen must be feeling the pressure many of his peers face - how to defend the failing, flailing Obama administration. Never fear. The former "West Wing" star whipped out his trusty race card and played it like one of those eccentric poker players you see late at night on ESPN 2.
Sheen said the campaign’s racial dog whistles — like Romney’s race-baiting (and factchecker-disproven) welfare ads — demonstrate a willingness on the right’s part to use prejudice to win votes against the country’s first black president.
“It’s just fundamental racism,” Sheen explained. “It’s still there, you know. It is just something, who can explain it? It’s just part of our national culture, our heritage, our reality, you know. There are a lot of well meaning but misguided people who, without them thinking of themselves as such, are racist. Their conservative stance, it’s like fundamentalism is theology without imagination and racism is politics without foundation.”
The race card isn't all about pretend dog whistles. Class warfare can be a nice supplement, like getting dealt and face card and a 10 in Blackjack and drawing an ace.
“I don’t think there is anything that Ryan or Romney can do to stop it — neither one of them has a powerful enough commitment to the base. It’s just not who they are. It’s not where they come from. These are white, very, very over-privileged men who have never done the work necessary to embrace leadership. Neither one of them has ever done anything that really forced them to grow or change in a way that would make them a desirable leader.”

A guy like Sheen will never vote for a black Repub, he will never vote for a black conservative. Its not a race thing, he’s a socialist. He will never vote for someone who is not a socialist. I will never vote for a socialist black or white. I didn’t vote for Clinton, and I won’t vote for Mrs Clinton. Are the Clintons black? No, they are socialists.
Sheen only favors minorities if they are socialists but not otherwise. A conservative will vote for a conservative whatever his ethnicity. So to that degree I suppose we both judge the man based on his character. The difference is that conservatives honestly don’t care what color you are and Dems like Sheen obsess over it.
Which is the more overused cliche, calling everything “something-gate” or using the phrase “playing the race card”.
