Liberal actor Martin Sheen must be feeling the pressure many of his peers face - how to defend the failing, flailing Obama administration. Never fear. The former "West Wing" star whipped out his trusty race card and played it like one of those eccentric poker players you see late at night on ESPN 2.
Sheen said the campaigns racial dog whistles like Romneys race-baiting (and factchecker-disproven) welfare ads demonstrate a willingness on the rights part to use prejudice to win votes against the countrys first black president.
Its just fundamental racism, Sheen explained. Its still there, you know. It is just something, who can explain it? Its just part of our national culture, our heritage, our reality, you know. There are a lot of well meaning but misguided people who, without them thinking of themselves as such, are racist. Their conservative stance, its like fundamentalism is theology without imagination and racism is politics without foundation.
The race card isn't all about pretend dog whistles. Class warfare can be a nice supplement, like getting dealt and face card and a 10 in Blackjack and drawing an ace.
I dont think there is anything that Ryan or Romney can do to stop it neither one of them has a powerful enough commitment to the base. Its just not who they are. Its not where they come from. These are white, very, very over-privileged men who have never done the work necessary to embrace leadership. Neither one of them has ever done anything that really forced them to grow or change in a way that would make them a desirable leader.

Wow, is he talking about himself and his Hollywood buddies there or what?
Anyway, what we really despise is the CULTURE that feels entitled to the fruits of others' labor. I don't care what color they are if they're out there shouting "0bama phone!"
And if referring to this CULTURE of entitlement and slothfulness and dependence makes the hearer, such as Sheen, think of a certain skin color or "race", then the "racism" is in HIS mind, not ours.
I thought he was dead for some reason.
Arguing with a liberal is like playing chess with a pigeon.
No matter how well you play chess,
the pigeon just knocks over the pieces,
craps on the board,
utters vaguely obscene sounds,
and struts around like he won.
First of all, the party of racism has and always will be the Democrats. Please review the 1800’s with specific attention to the Civil War. Also review the 1900’s with specific attention to the Civil Rights movement. For added bonus check out which part interred Japanese Americans in WW II.
But even beyond the Democrats historic racism, their inability to treat minorites as adults should be insulting to all people of color. Black people can get an ID to vote. Hispanics are quite capable of gettin an ID as well. And, here’s the kicker, a black man spouting out ruinous ideas (in the opinion of some) can be called to task on said ideas. The Black President is all grown up....an adult one might say. Thus, the voting population should and does expect these criticisms to be addressed as part of his presidency.
Finally, calling people racist for challenging the ideas of the president is both lazy and ignorant. Such pathetic rhetoric can only be interpreted as a cover for a weak case.
Wait a minute. Wasn't it the Marxist black guy that said poor folks can't even wipe their ass without having someone from the government there to help him do it? And this idiot Sheen is saying institutional racism is by rich white people?
Sorry, Marty, you need to come down off your high-horse and spend a day in the shoes of the working folks.
Martin, I have nothing against blacks.
I just hate big ears.

If you’re not catching(black)flak you’re not over the target
Martin Sheen needs to give up 90% of his “wealth” to the government before he defends this jackass president.
Ain’t gonna happen
Don’t really give a shyte what you think Marty
I know there are some thinking liberals. How do they stand being in the company of people like this? But this is the standard leftist mantra, especially since Obama came on the scene — concervatives are completely motivated by the basest of social pathologies — racism, sexism, “homophobia”. Our guy is “Mittler” and we’re all Nazis and KKK. We’re against Obama ONLY because he is black, because, God knows, there aren’t any other reasons why a person could oppose him. That only shows me that the left itself has absolutely NO intellectual foundation. I’m sure it doesn’t among Kool-Aid drinkers and whiners like Sheen and most of the Obama base.
They must feel that they are loosing the black voters otherwise they would not be playing this card again. It is only meant to influence their “base”.
What's the difference between voting for someone because of race and voting against someone because of race?
RYAN/ROMNEY ARE BETTER MEN THAN MARTIN SHEEN EVER WAS, OR EVER WILL BE:
Emilio recalled that in 1976, when he was 14 and Charlie was 11, the alcoholic Martin took the family to the Philippines during typhoon season while he shot Apocalypse Now. “When he got drunk ... he’d get violent,” says Emilio.
“My father and mother, neither of them cared if Larry Fishburne [Martin’s co-star] and I jumped in a jitney and went to Manila for the weekend. President Marcos was in power, martial law was in effect, and you were shot on sight if you were seen on the street after 1 a.m. What were they thinking?”
Ring any bells, Marty?
Hey Sheen, I’ll swap him out for Allen West or Herman Cain in a New York minute.

Ungh. Freeper Flash Poll:
Which is the more overused cliche, calling everything "something-gate" or using the phrase "playing the race card".
When Romney wins, we will have leftists lecturing us about how this is proof of American racism. Books will be written called “The New Racism.” Movies and plays will get made on the upsurge of racism. Colleges will double their funding on antiracism. Leftists will wear t-shirts saying “if Obama was white, he would have won in a landslide!” Etc., ad nauseum.
