Good heavens! In Salon?........I saw the debate and I didn’t think it was as bad as all that the Left is making it out to be. Crocodile tears?.........
“I saw the debate and I didnt think it was as bad as all that the Left is making it out to be.”
Are you sure you watched the right debate?
Do us a favor and stop handing out kleenex to them.
I instant messages some friends to ask what they thought - not telling them what I thought and heard such things as "Mitt cleanen his clock," "Obama looked terrible," "bored," stunned," and "out-of-touch." Those are just a few.
Really? What adult beverage were you consuming while watching Obama get absolutely schooled by Romney?
...I saw the debate and I didnt think it was as bad as all that the Left is making it out to be....
I doubt a single hard core supporter changed after this talk session. The undecideds may have been swayed a bit but if they are changed after one session then they aren’t that solid thus may be changed again with 33 days and three more debates to go until voting day.

My wife was watching the debate in the living room while I watched the Yankees POUND the Red Sox with the sound off so I could half listen. Romney did good but missed many chances to make major points. Especially regarding the role of govt regulation in causing the economic meltdown. To me obama sounded like he was dishing out the same old S***.
I've been watching debates since Kennedy/Nixon and have NEVER seen destruction on such a scale.
The left went into the debate fancying that Obama, the great orator, would “mop the floor” with Romney and the election would be in the bag for their side. Instead, Obama looked alternately hesitant, petulant and nervous, and Romney won (narrowly on strict debating points, though a little more convincingly when the only two zingers of the night, “...own house, your own plane, but not your own facts” and the $90 billion = 2 million teachers and half of them went bankrupt remark are considered). The contrast between expectation and reality has driven the left to despair.
We, of course, went into it knowing Obama was petulant and lost without a teleprompter, so his performance didn’t look as bad to us as it did to them.
The left is now falling back on the theory that Obama is playing “rope a dope” and on pretending that the static scoring of the rate cuts in Romney’s tax plan is a fact, rather than a (questionable) piece of analysis to accuse Romney of “lying” (ignoring the effects of capping deductions in his plan and the plain historical that shows lower top marginal rates cause a larger share of taxes to be paid by the wealthy, while aggregate income tax receipts in the U.S. depend almost entirely on median household income, not details of tax policy).
You never worshiped obama and considered him your messiah.

I think what we’re seeing here from the left is a shocking realization that they’ve been duped. Their guy isn’t that smart.
As much as I detest Harvard graduates, professors and their ilk, I have to admit that Romney came out of what is their toughest program (the combined JD/MBA) with very high marks.
We don’t know what Obama’s grades were - anywhere. Last night, people of all stripes suddenly might be thinking “Hmmm..... I wonder if he made his grade secret because they reflect what we saw last night...”
If you look at it from the point of view that liberal think that obama is the smartest president, ever, that he is a great orator, and that ALL Republicans are knuckle dragging Neanderthals, then you can see why they are so upset. Simply losing would have been bad. Losing in such a fashion is the coming of the end!
After 20 minutes I was asking if there was a mercy rule like in some high school sports. I started to cringe and winch involuntarily. I thought it was going to be much closer battle of ideas and values.
Well that makes you one of the 25% who think this. The other 75% think it was a total disaster for O
