And so begins our annual 7th TexasCowboy Memorial Shoot.
Thank you humble gunner for the graphic.
TexasCowboy (aka COB1) was a true Texas gentleman, great friend, patriot, and a firm believer in the 2nd Amendment. It is truly an honor to continue a tradition he started many years ago, hosting shoots for FRiends around the great state of Texas.
Many FReepers are coming into town on Thursday so that they can have a tourist day on Friday. Those lucky people are going to be made (a good) miserable Thursday evening by enjoying TheMoms Kick Ass Enchiladas.
The only set tourist place is The Lady Lex.
Friday evening we will meet at Captain Bennys, 103 Fulton Beach Road Fulton, TX 78382, at 8:00 p.m., for a delicious seafood dinner. (They do not take credit cards or serve liquor ~ so remember to bring your cash & booze.)
Saturday morning we meet for breakfast at Alice Fayes, 910 North Fulton Beach Road, Fulton, TX 78358, at 8:00 a.m. The shoot is scheduled to start at 10:00 a.m. at, Schwenkes Gun & Pistol Range, 4407 FM 1069 Aransas Pass, TX, 78336. Mr. Schwenke has reserved the 25 yard shooting station for our group to use as home base. The only major rule at this range is do not shoot the livestock. A BBQ lunch will be served at 12:30ish.
Once the shooting is done some of us will be going to the Rockport Seafair, while others will go back to the Pelican Bay cottages for some R&R. Saturday evening will be filled with yummy junk food and margaritas!
According to the forecast, it looks as the weather will be perfect. Lows in the mid-sixtys, highs in the mid-eightys.
Wow! Cool link. Thanks!
Only one litte, teensy, weensy, recommendation.....
Git Yer Finger Off That Trigger When You're Not Looking Down Range! LOLOL
I have a question about the Henry Rifle you're holding .....what sights are on it? I can't quite tell. I have a Big Boy but I'm not happy with the sights that come with it.
ROTFLOL!! That IS the look but it is a very good picture of you!
Excellent pics!!
Excellent job on the captions! Thanks for posting the pics for me.
OMGoodness, Jim! You’re a party animal. It sounds as if you were rippin’ through Tombstone like it was a wet sheet of paper and havin’ a ball doing it too! It’s great that you’re having a good time.
I notice the AR on the bench, but there’s a box of .22lr next to it. Which .22 insert were you using to shoot the AR in .22lr mode, that worked so well?
Since you mention speeding tickets ...
There’s an attorney in FTW who handles speeding tickets named James Mallory. I used to get a lot of tickets. Now that I work from home, not so much. Anyway ... many years ago, I got several speeding tickets over a couple year period. James Mallory had handled them for me. Well, I got another one. Before I could contact him, I received a hand-written note from him that said:
Dear xxxxxx,
I see you got another speeding ticket. I took care of it while I was at the courthouse. You owe me $150. Please remit payment with your next speeding ticket.
J. Mallory
And I did ... Bwahahahaha!
Was that Henry a .22 or a .44?
Henry is making some sweet rifles, y’know?
Wow! Thanks for the tour and the pictures of the rescued birds. I do dearly love raptors. We have a lot of them around here, hawks, owls, and eagles. The eagles live over at Guilford Lake, but they prey over a huge expanse of farmland, and they’re “protected,” so no shootin’ ‘em.
We have a number of really tall trees around our house, and the first year we lived here, they made a nest in one of them. That was really cool. But usually they just perch high up and search for prey.
Excellent pictures!
And two of the most well behaved children I have met.
Thank you! You always worry about your children’s behavior around adults and in situations where you let them go on their own. Hopefully next time there will be more youngun’s around to keep them busy ;o) They about killed our mobile data allotment for the rest of the billing cycle!
Austin is in a photography club and I am encouraging him to take pictures at every opportunity. I’m not sure he *sees* things as opportunities yet. It takes practice. I can take 100 pictures and throw 99 of them away in search of the one good picture.
Thanks to everyone, especially TheMom and also those folks who traveled so dang far!
On a scale of 1 to 10, I'd have to rate this shoot as "Epic"!
(Excerpt) Read more at myawesomeblog@wordpress.com ...
What seems to have forced you to excerpt your own blog?
IBTZ - blogpimp!!
LOL! And we’ll be back next year, too! If this Shoot was “Epic,” we’ll have to make the next one “Saga!”
Oh, oops. It looks as if you’re already zotted.
I'll second that.
Did anyone make it over to the Sea Fest?
Pinging Eaker to Henry questions.
Also adding, that baby is really sweet!
