And so begins our annual 7th TexasCowboy Memorial Shoot.
Thank you humble gunner for the graphic.
TexasCowboy (aka COB1) was a true Texas gentleman, great friend, patriot, and a firm believer in the 2nd Amendment. It is truly an honor to continue a tradition he started many years ago, hosting shoots for FRiends around the great state of Texas.
Many FReepers are coming into town on Thursday so that they can have a tourist day on Friday. Those lucky people are going to be made (a good) miserable Thursday evening by enjoying TheMoms Kick Ass Enchiladas.
The only set tourist place is The Lady Lex.
Friday evening we will meet at Captain Bennys, 103 Fulton Beach Road Fulton, TX 78382, at 8:00 p.m., for a delicious seafood dinner. (They do not take credit cards or serve liquor ~ so remember to bring your cash & booze.)
Saturday morning we meet for breakfast at Alice Fayes, 910 North Fulton Beach Road, Fulton, TX 78358, at 8:00 a.m. The shoot is scheduled to start at 10:00 a.m. at, Schwenkes Gun & Pistol Range, 4407 FM 1069 Aransas Pass, TX, 78336. Mr. Schwenke has reserved the 25 yard shooting station for our group to use as home base. The only major rule at this range is do not shoot the livestock. A BBQ lunch will be served at 12:30ish.
Once the shooting is done some of us will be going to the Rockport Seafair, while others will go back to the Pelican Bay cottages for some R&R. Saturday evening will be filled with yummy junk food and margaritas!
According to the forecast, it looks as the weather will be perfect. Lows in the mid-sixtys, highs in the mid-eightys.
Even TheCat got into the action.

I expected a different recoil!!! Hey, bacon man tricked me. A while earlier I fired a .44 that looked nearly the same as this .50!!! Then later that day he handed me the .50! The result?
WWAAAAAAahhhhhhh!!!!
She might want to use eye protection !
WAAAAAAAA!!!!
*sniff*
You got to meet the Boss???!!!
Please give him my best!
Looks like y’all are having a great time!
GRATE pics!
Hope you are having a bang up time...
Ditto's.
Enjoy ... and wish I were there with you!

I AM SO FRAGGIN’ JEALOUS THAT I’M NOT THERE!
YOU are jealous??!? I missed out on the whole thing too! Why, yesterday, I didn’t get to fire a wide assortment of great firearms with some of the most solid, coolest people on the planet! Because I didn’t get a chance to fire the weapons, I never got surprised by the kick of a .50 Desert Eagle (after not firing a .44 that looked identical) and because of that, there’s no Classic Freeper Video of me going “WWAAAAAaaaahhh!!!” in surprise; humblegunner and I never shot a tennis ball such that it launched about 50 feet in the air, and I never got a chance to try a new trigger technique that improved my followup shots with a pistol, that made a lemon (a target) fairly dance downrange. Then I would have had the chance to have some real Texas BBQ at the range, but of course, I missed out on that too. After, I missed the opportunity to go to the beach with the sultry and sexy Freepladys onyx and penelopesire, and since the ocean water kept receding just out of my reach, I never got to go for a solid swim that would have served as a symbolic start of a new and very intense workout regime that would have eventually gotten me back into amazing shape. And of course, while I wasn’t here, I took up a horrible new cigarette habit.
It would have been great, but unfortunately, I just missed everything by about 15 minutes.
Damn.
I recall saying something identical.
WAAAAAAAAAHHHhhhhh.....eal, here: This has been a truly special time for me:. Alla y’all have gone above and beyond to make this time together, amazing in all regards. Those of us that were already friends, our friendships have deepened and strengthened; and those of us who just met have become fast friends already. The genuine love that was shown to one and all was moving and poignant. The fun was a delightful celebration of all that it is to be truly alive and free. I will treasure this experience for my entire life.
On a personal level. BuckeyeTexan and onyx, i could not have asked for more wonderful and sweetnatured, considerate cabin mates. Eaks, Buckeye, thanks for allowing me to shoot your sweet pieces, and Bacon Man, thanks for making me go “wahhhhh!”. Themom, penelopesire, and anyone i missed, thanks for keeping us well fed with amazing cuisine! Buckeye Texan, thanks for making it possible, and TheOldLady, thanks for your help in making the travel arrangements, and the candles. NYTexan; thanks for your hospitality in opening your home. Humblegunner, thanks for having my back when we nearly had to beat the restaurant owner to a bleeding pile of fly covered flesh and broken bones. JimRob, thanks for bringing us all together in the first place. And of course, to all of the Freeper Foxes, thanks for letting me hit it with you. I will never stop smiling now. ;)
Truly, i have been blessed to know you before; now, i am honored and humbled to call you friends.
Stay safe, and may we be guided together next year — every last one of us.
