And so begins our annual 7th TexasCowboy Memorial Shoot.
Thank you humble gunner for the graphic.
TexasCowboy (aka COB1) was a true Texas gentleman, great friend, patriot, and a firm believer in the 2nd Amendment. It is truly an honor to continue a tradition he started many years ago, hosting shoots for FRiends around the great state of Texas.
Many FReepers are coming into town on Thursday so that they can have a tourist day on Friday. Those lucky people are going to be made (a good) miserable Thursday evening by enjoying TheMoms Kick Ass Enchiladas.
The only set tourist place is The Lady Lex.
Friday evening we will meet at Captain Bennys, 103 Fulton Beach Road Fulton, TX 78382, at 8:00 p.m., for a delicious seafood dinner. (They do not take credit cards or serve liquor ~ so remember to bring your cash & booze.)
Saturday morning we meet for breakfast at Alice Fayes, 910 North Fulton Beach Road, Fulton, TX 78358, at 8:00 a.m. The shoot is scheduled to start at 10:00 a.m. at, Schwenkes Gun & Pistol Range, 4407 FM 1069 Aransas Pass, TX, 78336. Mr. Schwenke has reserved the 25 yard shooting station for our group to use as home base. The only major rule at this range is do not shoot the livestock. A BBQ lunch will be served at 12:30ish.
Once the shooting is done some of us will be going to the Rockport Seafair, while others will go back to the Pelican Bay cottages for some R&R. Saturday evening will be filled with yummy junk food and margaritas!
According to the forecast, it looks as the weather will be perfect. Lows in the mid-sixtys, highs in the mid-eightys.
I forgot all about it LOL.
Oh well, it is only once a year.
You old redneck gun-clinger you!
Home? Shoot, we’ve still got miles and miles of Texas before us. This is like a never-ending state. Already passed through one time zone. Think there’s another up ahead.
Texas.
It’s A Whole Other Country. LOL
I’m glad you had a good time in Louisiana. You were missed at this shoot.
I am bumping around ideas in my head as to where to hold the next shoot. At the top of this list at this moment (which is subject to many changes) is Dietz Range in New Braunfels. I would love for all of us to stay in cottages like we did this year, but after some research I am second guessing that ~ everything around that area is expensive. A second choice is for everyone to stay at an Embassy Suites in the area; my cousin’s wife works there and might be able to give us all a good discount. It is still early so nothing is yet set in stone. As always I more than welcome suggestions.
My best friend, Tony Chachere, & I made the gumbo. It in no way compares to you creole.
Nothing wrong with being a porch monkey and wagging the old chin with great friends.
This one was epic. I really liked the cottage motif, as opposed to hotel stays.
Thank you for that. It really is easy for me . . . planning stuff is one of my three skills.
Yeah, I dug the cottage thing. If we don’t hit the exact same spot, there’s gotta be somethin’. Even a bed and breakfast....
We did not bring that many bullets for it. Neither of realized how sweet and easy it is to shoot. Next time there will be tons & bunches of ammo.
I dn’t knw hat yu mean!
I gotta ask.
You don't gotta tell.
:)
The powerchair impressed the hell out of me after it went down, then up, the drive on the way to the pier.
Trivia: The distance across Texas at it’s widest, is almost the same distance as Rochester, NY to Atlanta, GA!
Being a mom/grandma and cooking.
Get your mind outta da gutter. ;-)
For real? I didn't see it among those you listed.
English, Sarcasm, and Profanity.
Do you sarcastically plan stuff in English and cuss people out if they act ignorant?
THAT I can understand.
LOL
Get my mind out of the gutter along with the REST of me, right?
LOL
Yup. We’ve got about an hour of Texas yet to do this afternoon, then we’ll pass through New Mexico this evening. Booked a room at a saloon in Tombstone for tonight and Sheila’s not happy about it. Says it’s the stupidest thing I ever done (but I doubt that). The man said, sure we’ve had people in wheelchairs here before. We just pile up some scraps of wood in front of the step and you can make it easy. Said if we arrive too late, he’d just leave the door open and a light on. Sold me. I like the idea of staying in a shooting town.
Sheila now says she’s never going traveling with me again. But that’s the same thing she said last time.
