It’s also been called “The War of Southern Independence’’. Independence for whom? Southern slaves? I always way hit them with ‘’It’s mighty curious to see people who call themselves conservatives venerating of bunch of Dixiecrats.’’ That one shuts them up too.

Right. I forgot about that one. If they wanted to be independent then why call it a civil war? The interpretation of a civil war would be akin to a war between Republicans and Democrats to take over the Union. The South wanted to go their own way. The first newspapers came out with the headlines stating “The Union Is Dissolved”

Shuts them up.... Probably because such a statement is so profoundly ignorant and intellectually lacking they figure, why bother?

What tickles me is that people in the north think they have inherited some imagined moral high ground, when the facts are, there were more slave states under the US flag than there were under the Confederate flag, the war did NOT begin with the intention of freeing the slaves, and that there is NOTHING moral about freeing the black man while at the same time denying liberty to white Southerners. (A demonstration of hypocrisy totally lost on northerners.)

Such facts usually are enough to shut up even the most ignorant “Civil War” debaters, but some the less intelligent ones just can’t help themselves.
