I don’t know when Jerry Doyle is live on the air.

In Pittsburgh he’s a late night talker and I’ve never been able to figure out if he was live or time shifted.

He’s a very good, sensible and articulate host. He’s not a bomb thrower and left the R’s to be an I 5 years ago. I haven’t noticed any contradictions or hypocrisy in his positions when I’ve heard him over the years. I’m not an active listener who tunes in just because he’s on but will listen to him when I’m driving etc.

He was Garibaldi on Babylon 5.

Apparently he’s a Republican, so he should be ok.

JD used to sub for Savage back before he got his own show.

JD is more of a populist than a the typical talk radio republican.

Never heard of this Doyle guy, but from this press release I’d guess he’s a total bore. Hope I’m wrong.

I used to listen to him here in the DC area...loved him. He is a tough dude with attitude. Smart. I hated it when they took him off here a year ago or so...he deserves a wide audience.

RIMMER: (To LISTER) So, whoever you are, who's next?
LISTER: I don't want to know. Someone else look.
JAKE: Stand aside! Let the law handle this.

He grabs the next case.

JAKE: Hmm... No photograph. Name, "Billy Doyle."

The group looks at LISTER.

LISTER: Not necessarily. It's not necessarily me.

LISTER gets up to investigate the suitcase.

RIMMER: Billy Doyle. Well, that's a name that came from the wrong side of the the tracks, isn't it? You can see it all now: a youth spent in and out of corrective institutions. A string of illegitimate children. The wife will be all white shoes, no tights, and blotchy legs.

Has to take up petty crime to cover the court orders for maintenance. Before he knows it he's standing in a bank with a sawn-off shotgun. Somehow it goes off. An old lady gets both barrels through a crocheted bobble hat. All he can do is hide. But where? And then it hits him -- with all his ill-gotten gains he can buy four years in a computer game and wait until the heat's off. So ends the Ballad of Billy "Granny Killer" Doyle.

LISTER let's out a big sigh of relief and hands the case to RIMMER.

LISTER: It's yours.

I wish they would replace Savage with Kuhner.

My absolute favorite radio talk show is the Red Eye Radio guys—they are the best. I get them in the middle of the night but they explain economics the best I’ve heard.

I was listening today and while the show isn’t bad, he’s no Mike Savage. I like Savage’s commentaries on history, religion, even food and culture.

I’m pretty familiar with Jerry, his who originates from Vegas, which is where I live.

He’s pretty mellow, likes to poke fun at both sides and is more libertarian than conservative.

I think he resents the Republicans because he doesn’t feel he was given the support(money?) that he should have been given when he ran for Congress.

It’s not a bad show, but I do prefer Savage for sheer entertainment.

It's also ironic that Jerry Doyle's ex-wife Andrea Thompson (also of B5 fame, and NYPD Blue, too) also tried to break into the newsie business by anchoring on CNN Headline News for a year. She wasn't as successful as Doyle has become.

To: MaryLou1; All

They should have went with Jeff Kuhner...

Jerry Doyle is a good man who takes no BS and is not a GOP Liberal Plant Suck-Up like some of his counter-part radio hosts....but he can drone on and lose an audience

He has been on numerous Orlando radio stations in the past...but he cannot keep an audience....and is not kept on the air locally

The PR release by TRN was quite nasty towards Savage...and seems to try real hard to claim that Doyle will keep Savage’s audience. That will not happen.

Kuhner would have been a great replacement. He is a stronger conservative on many issues

Yep, my favorite character from Babylon 5. He’s a right-libertarian. He will drive most FReepers nuts because he is not afraid to criticize the GOPe (including Bush).

Jerry Doyle was an actor. He once made an appearance on “Moonlighting” because he looked so much like Bruce Willis (at the time anyway)

JD has replaced Savage with TRN; that's all. It's highly unlikely he can keep very much of Savage's audience. Doyle had the advantage of appearing when most of the big names are safely off the air and he had no competition, and Savage's audience is simply not going to go for him.

He's just "OK."

If Savage can sign with a new syndication partner, I would not look for Doyle or TRN to hold the timespot in any major market for very long.
