The U.S. has lost track of some of Syria’s chemical weapons, Defense Secretary Leon Panetta said Friday, and does not know if any potentially lethal chemicals have fallen into the hands of Syrian rebels or Iranian forces inside the country.

“There has been intelligence that there have been some moves that have taken place. Where exactly that’s taken place, we don’t know.” Panetta said, in a Pentagon press briefing.

Let me point out:

The Libyan upheaval also loosed 15,000 SA-25 Grinch MANPDADS anti-aircraft missiles onto the black market —THAT is what that SEAL was trying to recover when he tried to protect the Ambassador (but got zapped).

So:

AQ might have chemical weapons now but also the ability to take down civilian airliners. I mean they might have that capability FOR YEARS and it’s possible the authorities will require laser dazzlers on aircraft or at some node near high risk airports.

Or require that only aircraft of certain types (protected ones with dazzlers) land at certain airports.
