Rep. Todd Akin (R-Mo.) reminds Republicans why they were hoping he would drop out of the U.S. Senate race against incumbent Claire McCaskill (D).
I think we have a very clear path to victory, and, apparently, Claire McCaskill thinks we do, too, because she was very aggressive at the debate, which was quite different than it was when she ran against Jim Talent, Akin told the Kansas City Star on Thursday.
She had a confidence and was much more ladylike [in 2006], but in the debate on Friday she came out swinging, and I think thats because she feels threatened.

This guy is a liability.
You better vote for Claire. It’s your only hope.
Oh please grow up, ladylike is now a dirty word?
The real story is Todd Akin breathed.
What’s wrong with what he said? (aside from the fact that it upsets the republicans for Claire)
Suggesting that Claire should talk a certain way because she is a woman is considered sexist.
Akin was already done. He is double done.
Can’t stand her ... but Akin is a LOSER.
He called Claire McCaskill a (gasp) swinger!
You should send Claire a few bucks, since she’s your candidate-of-choice.
Can’t stand her and don’t live in MO.
But Akin is still a loser with a capital L.
When lies become the norm, telling the truth is a crime.
Im among the non defeatists who are making contributions to help Akin in the absence of support from the despicable RNC and other GOPe.
I urge others to support him also and not allow yourself to be lulled into depression and pessimism.

Why do you say that?
What did he say that is not true?
Didn’t say it’s a dirty word.
Akin apparently has run-on-at-the-mouth disease, saying things that just don’t need to be said, aren’t relevant, and DO NOT HELP HIM WIN.
It was only a matter of time.
I can remember when calling a woman ladylike was considered a compliment.
Things have changed, not for the better. But they have changed, and something like this just adds to the impression that Akin’s a clueless fossil. Maybe he should just shut up altogether and let his surrogates run the campaign until election day.
psh- if you are offended by this you shouldn’t be in politics. It is only an issue because of his previous comments. Fact is he is still very much in this race, most believe it to be a horse race at this point. I don’t care for Akin much but the GOP would be smart to make some moves to help him.
How will Senators refer to each other from now on, given that they can no longer say "Gentleman from Missouri" or "Gentle Lady from Missouri?"

If your goal is to lose, nothing.
He still has some time to make up for it (and broken glass conservative voters could still make it happen in Nov.)...but this is a dumb comment.
Did you watch/listen to the debate? She wasn’t ladylike. She was shrill, angry, and attacking at every opportunity. She rarely presented any of her positions. Akin mopped the floor with her (hopefully, Rachel Weinier doesn’t think the term “mopped” insinuates McCaskill should be doing domestic chores), and now the press is worried he will start polling better.
I hope the GOP-e doesn’t wet themselves when they see this article, and renew their attacks on Akin.
You assume too much.
I am not offended in the least by Akin’s comment, I am vindicated!
The guy is an blithering idiot and I was right about him from the start. (Wish I weren’t and we could pick up a seat in the Senate ... but oh well).
