Yesterday, CBS/NYT released its latest Quinnipiac poll of Colorado, Virginia and Wisconsin. With the exception of CO, the polls had heavy Democrat skews, so the head-to-head match-ups aren't particularly informative. What was telling though was the differences in enthusiasm between the two parties.
In all three states, a majority of Republicans say they are more enthusiastic about voting this year, compared to about a third of Democrats who are. In Colorado and Virginia, GOP voters are more enthusiastic than Democrats by a 15 point margin. In Wisconsin, GOP enthusiasm outpaces Democrats by 16 points.
Particularly interesting is that GOP voters have become more enthusiastic about voting in the past month.

Be vwey vwey quiet. Then on election day (or if you vote early) spring up and crush the half-rican American on 11/6. That’s what I’m prayin’ for. Actually I kind of like (a little) the black half. It’s the white half I can’t stand. I guess we now wish the government had provided ms. stanley anne some birf control huh?
Helping keep mankind warm for 65 years.
The coworker who twisted my arm to get me to vote for ‘Bammy in ‘08 figured it out on his own when he got cut from his DoD job, and the friend who used to be in a union calls Zero the “Obamination.” Those guys were low-hanging fruit. Most of the remaining folks I’m thinking of are friends of friends, and they love Zero and Big Government more than ever. All this is to say that I think most minds are already made up.
Listen. Listen. Listen. To all my fellow “crawl over broken glass” voters” consider doing what I am doing. I called my voter registration here in Lake County (Gary) Indiana and asked about early voting. The nice lady said no problem. In Indiana it starts October 9th. I can go to the County Court House with my DL or state id and vote! That way if I get hit by a bus before election day my vote still counts! Make sense?
You're welcome, Sue.
No legitimate pollster takes such directions when it will make them look like idiots. There is a difference in polls only for internal use (which may very well do what you suggest) and those which are released to the public.
This is not being done at the behest of the media but completely voluntary on the pollsters part. They are part of the media and totally biased.
Huh? I guess if I had some sort of mind control device, I could do it.
Changing minds is tough work, friend. These are grown people who possess free will and self-chosen considerations about everything under the sun moon and stars. It takes a lot of work to get any person to shift their viewpoints even a few degrees, let alone, a complete reversal of their worldview.
Not possible.
No kidding. There are more than a few in my family who are disillusioned about Obama, but they're nowhere near the point where they'd actually consider voting for the Republican. They're lifelong Dems, steeped in liberal Kool-Aid. They'll stay home, first.
Changing minds is tough work, friend. These are grown people who possess free will..............
Well then, you go to Plan B. You take an Insurance Policy out on each one of them and.............. LOL .....J/K.
Most of the polls that are showing 0bama ahead and Romney floudering are also to shift campaign money towards 0bama.
Those people sound like Independents, or moderate Dems - not hard-core, progressive liberals. If it only took a little nudging from you to get them to come over to our side, then they were never in the 47% to begin with.
Try nudging a hardened liberal. It's like trying to move the Rock of Gibraltar.
He doesn't speak to me anymore. ;-)
Naw, they might be dunderhead liberals, but they are family. Outside of our politics, we're still bonded at a core level.
Unlike you, I'm the sole conservative in my clan, which makes for some strained relations at times. They think I was kidnapped and brainwashed by the vast right-wing conspiracy .. LOL
If they do, it won't be because of anything I did. Obama built that.
LOL!!!
And you know this for a fact? You honestly don’t believe that if someone pays for a poll, they don’t tell the poster what they want to measure?
Yike. Thanks at least for proving that on the Internet, someone will argue about anything. Have a nice day.
Sure they can tell them what they want to measure. But they cannot tell them HOW to measure it.
Would an architect design a building that he knows will fall down just because that is the way the promoter wants it designed? Heck no.
The party purchasing a poll is expected to provide the subjects they want to measure, the sampling parameters and will have approval over the phraseology of the questions.
The polling party is unlikely to "cook the books", but they will fulfill their customers' specifications.
Of course that is the way it works.
No way even a Democrat polling organization is going to release or agree to have released a poll where people know they have sampled 90% D if the poll is to become public. If they look like absolute idiots with predictions wildly out of touch with results NO one will hire them, Dims or Republicans.
But, obviously, they will agree to generate and publish samples that are +10 to +13 Democrat -- because that could happen...even if it is improbable.
