Officials: Iranian Quds Force poses threat to U.S. homeland

Iran’s extremist militias and their proxies were behind a recent string of terror attacks against Israeli diplomatic targets around the globe and might seek to strike the United States, U.S. counterterrorism officials said Wednesday.

“We have seen an uptick in operational activity by the Quds Force over the last year or so,” National Counter-Terrorism Center Director Matthew G. Olsen told a hearing of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee.

Mr. Olsen said the Quds Force, the elite division of the Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps responsible for operations abroad, “poses a threat beyond the immediate [Middle East] region,” including to the U.S. homeland.

He cited the federal prosecution last year of a senior member of the force for involvement in a failed plot to kill the Saudi ambassador to the U.S. by bombing a Washington restaurant.

Quds Force operatives had been involved in anti-Israeli attacks and plots as far afield as India and Georgia, he said.

We should have closed our borders to visitors from the Iranian region. We should have done it decades ago.

We continue to allow people from that region to come here, and frankly they’re not much more than a ticking bomb waiting to go off at some predetermined time.

It’s sad this needs to be done, but I don’t see the benefit of denying it needs to be done until thousands of our citizens are dead in the streets.

Don’t laugh. It’s going to happen. And when it does, our leaders will once again say, “Who could have seen this coming?” Well, I could, for one...

Interesting. No matter what type of search patterns I use as well as clicking on the 2012 Congress and Terrorism main tabs at CSPAN, this particular Senate hearing does not show up. If it had been available say days ago I would have found it, due to my daily multiple checks at that site for anything of importance that might crop up.
The Senate session may have been pulled from the site after briefly having it open to the public. Who knows.

It's going to happen here, no way to stop all the attempts - one or more will succeed. Wouldn't surprise me if one of them was invited to dine at the White House and do his deed the next day.

It is so obvious Hussein is one of “them”, meaning a radical Islamist. He thought he would be the darling of Muslims and now they are burning him up in effigy. He won't be their darling until he proves he can destroy this nation by himself for Allah.

The fact I'm writing this, that our nation has come to this, is unbelievable and tragic.

Sorry I can't be of any help on that one. I have over the past half hour checked the CSPAN site over six times. Nothing. And CSPAN over the years has been pretty good over all at maintaining current, not so current, and archived materials.
I have a feeling it was pulled for some reason, minutes after the Washington Times article was posted, referencing the Senate hearing. The hyperlink at the WT simply redirects one to the CSPAN site, then if one clicks on what normally should be a video, sends you back to the WT page you just came from. Weird.

Am I alone in despising the term “Homeland” to describe the territory of our great Republic?

Other nations have described themselves as having a “Fatherland” or “Motherland”, but I don't recall this term being popular among Americans.

“My native land”? Yes. “Homeland”? Not so much before 2001 and the ill advised “Homeland Security Department” that promptly repainted all the cars of the Border Patrol and such to prominently say “Department of Homeland Security” but somehow couldn't be bothered to actually patrol the border.
