You are right—I took off on Newt on Clint and this was on Akin...a man unjustly persecuted for a simple gaffe resulting from his passionate advocacy for life.

Sorry, but Realpolitik has him falling on his sword for the cause fair or not and if the Leftist keep the Senate because he doesn't he will be damned for all time.

He won the primary. Missouri has to live with him.

We can’t have the national party nullifying the primary just because they want to. Down that path lies disaster.

some people are so clueless.

It seems some do not want any dissent; re: Romney.

But be careful what you scream against, or decide to shut down: because the more

you make dissent politically correct, then there lies a dangerous path. No checks, no nothing because the voices will be told they are too emotionally involved or it's does not matter in one's dissent. Thank God a few people can speak out on TV and say something may may make one feel bad. I see what is happening. And the next person who says something foolish; there will be a problem; you'll see. Newt does matter since he has the respect from many. He has been helping Romney a lot even after Romney lied on him in TV ads. Pretty amazing; I don't think I could do it.

My 2 brothers said the very same thing to me and elaborated that I could not see that it was time wasted. They said I love Clint too much as an actor. I thought it was good; helped Romney and I don't support the guy but I can be honest to myself that I think it worked in Mitt's favor. Reading through some blogs, it looks like some minorities took it as being offensive (we'll see); so could explains why the libs are working this. I still would have loved to seen Palin there. It was something missing while I was there. Newt should had been allowed to throw the blood in the water; he was put on strings per Rove/Mitt etc. Where I was sitting, people were saying the very thing. Anyway, Happy Labor Day weekend to all.

“some people are so clueless.”

That must be me, because your post to me was incomprehensible to me.

Newt is irrelevant, but not because he likes to stir the pot - I agree with him on Akin and other things, but disagree on Eastwood.

Newt will work with Romney not because he is being magnanimous, rather because he wants a possible role in an upcoming Romney administration. That’s politics. He’ll probably get something.

Newt took no real courageous stand on MTP. He was a bit against the “party” grain on Akin.

Akin won the primary the other two candidates didn’t.You don’t know what you are talking about and for your information Akin is now leading McCaskill.

First of all, I want to say that I thought Gingrich had some good ideas during the primaries. Any of the candidates that ran would have been infinitely better than Obama.

Secondly, I want you to know that the average guy understands Clint Eastwood better than any polished politician at the Rep or Dem Conventions. Eastwood is one of us and his message was powerful.

Two or three days of very nice, well scripted speeches was really well planned. But, boiling it down into condensed version was for the rest of us (little people).

Thank you Clint Eastwood, well done and very courageous!

Gingrich nailed and the Dems on their support for partial birth abortion -- but it was Carly Fiorina who was the real sell-out telling the panel that women aren't one issue voters, and abortion is not an issue to bring up.

Of course she then had to say that the GOP did the right thing in asking Akin to resign for that one issue that women are not concerned over. The Dems on the panel just sat quietly as she did their work for them.

Newt sold out—his performance on MTP was treason it was so suck-up.Guess NBC made him an offer.

You have that wrong. Newt was great. It was Carly Fiorina's performance that you are thinking of.

The one thing I enjoyed about Newt’s performance today was that he got Thomas Friedman’s face to turn purple when he suggested that there are far more natural resources in America than previously known. Boy, Tom sure has a bad temper!

Did you see the sheepish look on the faces of Brokaw, the historian woman, and Freidman when Newt handed them their asses regarding full term abortion?

And after Freidman played newspaper scientist saying the GOP (Romney) would incinerate the planet, heat up the planet, savage the planet with hurricanes,....then later he was a proud proabortionist and it was a right....then he said, upon Newt confronting him, said, "But hey I am just a journalist, not a scientist." After making a litany of false science claims he then redefined himself as having no scientific credentials. Doris Kerns Godwin looked like a baglady. Brokaw looked like "How dare you question liberal orthodoxy."

I thought it particularly interesting that Akin was savaged, but Rove mostly got a pass. Newt did stick up for Akin but Rove walked....noone but Newt had the balls to stand up.

It is a sordid buisness.

>>>Newt is irrelevant.

I guess that theory is busted. I see in the past few weeks, it's a new theme-don't say anything bad about the Mitt. Newt and others should all fall in line with the ruling party. Not. No reason to go off on Newt the way you did. He did great on the panel.

Yep Newt cleared the bases with his comparison of the GOP and Dem planks. Romney is among those who had no balls. The establishment Romney is not a socon.

Sometime in the past, Newt did something to hurt RFEngineer’s tender feelings. But RFEngineer isn’t really interesting enough for anyone to do the research to discover the precipitating event.

He isn’t the Missouri’s voters selected candidate. The vast majority on both parties want him to step down.

Akin won just 35 percent of the vote in a 3-way vote in the Republican primary. He got most of his campaign money from Claire McCaskill who is playing Todd Akin for a patsy, which is probably suitable for him considering .

Any other legitimate GOP candidate would win this race in a cake walk. Akin will struggle and probably lose. He keeps on sending me emails asking me to contribute to his campaign. I will send him two cents if he supplies the stamp and envelope. :)

Thanks, Karl...now please move on....

I didn’t go off on Newt, I merely pointed out the obvious, he’s irrelevant. He did fine on the panel, save his jealous Eastwood whine.

“Did you see the sheepish look on the faces of Brokaw, the historian woman, and Freidman when Newt handed them their asses regarding full term abortion? “

That was amusing. I was curious how Newt made that argument though - arguing not as much the abhorrence of the procedure but the political double standard of such.

It was not a stellar panel by any measure.
