Go ahead. Vet my day. A fistful of incoherence. High slurs rambler. Every which way and loose.
Clint Eastwood, the 82-year-old movie star and director, inspired what seemed like enthusiasm inside the Republican National Convention's Tampa Bay Times Forumand disbelief outside it and on Twitter.

Lol, I doubt that. Eastwood has been an actor for around sixty years. He was talking to an empty chair and obviously using humor to ridicule Obama. I expect he did exactly what he intended to do exactly as he intended to do it.
I thought the stuttering was purposeful; he was making fun of Zero. I also didn’t notice him even attempting to use the prompter. I think it was completely extemporaneous.
There were some moments where i wondered if he was going to be able to get through it, but overall i thought it turned out well. Or perhaps i should say that it ended well, once he got away from the empty chair routine and started talking more from the heart. It also helped that the audience was with him, wanted him to do well, and were very supportive throughout.
My guess is that Eastwood will now get the Charlton Heston treatment from the left. That’s the way they are whenever someone from one of their pet groups (minorities, Hollywood) steps out of line. They feel they have to bury that person under an avalanche of never-ending smears in order to serve as a warning to others who would otherwise similarly dare to defy them and thus threaten to break up their monopoly in those areas.
Just now on GMA Ann Romney was asked about Clint's speech and she said that he was winging it.....
I love Eastwood but he did seem more than a little bit confused up there. He reminded me a lot of my Dad in his last few years.I felt sorry for him as I watched.
I was really looking forward to seeing "Dirty Harry" give his speech at the Republican Convention. But we didn't get "Dirty Harry" ... we got Clint Eastwood, a clearly aged Clint Eastwood and at points it really was painful to watch as he lost his train of thought and stumbled to remember the words he wanted to say.
One thing we know for sure: he didn't use a teleprompter, and I believe spoke from his heart. He got a few good zinger's in, and the best zingers are always grounded in truth.
But as much as I respect and admire him, there were moments that were painful to watch, I suspect some of that has to do with my own personal expectation (or hope) that Dirty Harry would show up when Clint Eastwood did instead.
Clint was “Awesome”! Each quip was a fearless, bullseye, .44 slug delivered right at the heart of socialism.
“We own this country.”
“I’m guessing he sort of winged it and was making it up as he went along.”
I had the same impression.
Of course, a true actor could do that without much effort. It’s what they do.
Also, and this is so important... Clint... unlike so many other Hollywood people who intrude themselves into politics or are actually invited (as I am sure Clint was) to speak in favor of a candidate or a policy... Clint did not dash out and hire a dozen overpriced speechwriters for himself or make any more out of the invitation than it was. He didnt behave as if he thought it was ABOUT HIM, but rather focused on the election and the issues.
In his very natural, casual and almost off-hand delivery, Clint conveyed that he knew very well what his place was and why he was there. He never once behaved as if it was about HIM.... he was very clearly there FOR MITT and did NOT grandstand.
Good for him.
Btw,Eastwood is Warner Bros. He made some clear points echoing our thoughts of this is our country; not theirs. Let the Democrats scream, holler or whatever. That’s what communists do. We need a leader; not a Dear Leader. If some of the Republican elitists want to control; let them eventually wither on the vine.
Our country is ours; not theirs.
If the Lord allows me to make it to in my eighties, I’ll be thankful just to be able to get showered, into my clothes, walk out on a stage (never mind set up a teleprompter or write a speech), ramble on from my heart, tell the truth, and then have sense enough to quit when I’m supposed to, and ambulate off the stage on my own steam. - Oh, and the “Outlaw Josie Wales” doesn’t give a rip what we think like it or not . . . (good on him that he’s not straining getting plastic surgery and hair transplants trying to look 21) . . . .
I think there's alot of people in this country (especially the 23,000,000 unemployed) who that line resonated with, and I'm guessing a whole bunch of them are itching to "let Obama go." I personally know quite a few who are.
I never was much of a fan of Eastwood’s, maybe because i don,t think i would like to call myself a fan, a fan is only good for one thing and not very good at that.
But one thing you can not call him is a white washed sepulchre, it is really amazing how simple the truth is when ever it is spoken with out any hidden intent and a bunch of mealy mouthed words that are intended to cushion the blow.
From a delivery persepective, it was definitely awkward and off-color. But, as you say, it was also genuine and heart-felt. I have a feeling the the Convention organizers were probably expecting something much different and didn’t preview the speech because it was Clint. Anyway, plenty of fodder either way for those who say they loved or hated it.
Liked how he touched on Obama flying around in Air Force One to...talk about student loans
Through use of humor... highlights Obama's backward priorities, ineffectively ignoring big issues, hypocrisy preaching green energy, fuel efficiency and his childlike behavior
...basically time to take the keys away and put an adult in charge.
You know what they say about flak, and Eastwood is taking a lot of it this morning...the pigs on the left are squealing like never before...President Empty Chair reaches for another ashtray...
Only goes to show that the media is so damn loyal to the Dems, politics aside, can't even recognize someone like Clint as just plain "good" people.
"A national disgrace." Damn right it is, Clint.
Exactly...
Clint hammered obama & biden. He thinks they're incompetents. I loved every minute of it. obama is in shock right now that Clint said those things about him.
Clint was “Awesome”! Each quip was a fearless, bullseye, .44 slug delivered right at the heart of socialism.
