Clint Eastwood will be speaking at the Republican Convention in Tampa on Thursday according to Fox News. The networks website is reporting that a GOP source confirmed that Eastwood is indeed the mystery speaker. Thursday nights line-up has a To Be Announced speaker scheduled ahead of Senator Marco Rubio and GOP Presidential nominee Mitt Romney himself. Eastwoods name was floated earlier this week as the speaker along with former VP nominee Sarah Palin, Donald Trump and even a hologram of former President Ronald Reagan. No stranger to politics, Eastwood served as the Mayor of Carmel, California from 1986 to 1988. He supported John McCain in 2008 and endorsed Mitt Romney earlier this month at a Sun Valley fundraiser. Now more than ever do we need Mitt Romney, Im going to be voting for him, the Oscar winner said as the GOP nominee stood next to him on August 4. If Eastwood is really heading to Tampa to speak Thursday evening, hes going to have to get going soon. Deadline has learned that as of Wednesday afternoon, the actor/director was still at his home in Carmel. Eastwoods latest film, Trouble With The Curve comes out on September 21, 2012.

...or Palin?
I can’t get too excited about this. Was hoping it would be Palin or West....
Love the picture.
so happens I have 72 Gran Torino in my garage and it belongs to 2 of my sons...it needs some bondo and paint but it is otherwise intact.
I often though of posing with one of my Garands in front of it, Ala Clint.
Hey Nana, better make sure your phone is not on mute. Your daddy Jorge Schwartz may just be calling you with a new agenda ‘cause this one’s a gettin’ stale.
Some people are just losers, you dear have taken the cake and devoured the whole darned thing. If you’re not a part of the solution, or at least provide something to it, you’re just another part of the problem.
Honestly i dont see where foxnews has confirmed this at all
There were some speculation this morning that it might be Tim Tebow. Woody Johnson is a big Romney supporter and it’s already been announced that Tebow won’t be playing tonight.
Nevertheless, I'll listen to what he has to say.
Social conservative here. Not exactly excited about Eastwood speaking. But something like this is to be expected given the nominee. Not really excited about him either. I’m a man without a party.
The GOP-e wants my votes but not my values. They won’t get either.
Somebody Else/2016
(For that matter: Somebody Else/2012)
This seems like a particularly bad idea. What does it accomplish?
Well your being a bit tongue in cheeky but you made me smile, especially the Ward and June Cleaver snark.
So I saw your post and I kinda chuckled.
Because last night I was thinking the same thing. I wonder what the “other side”, I speak of the homosexuals, the single mothers, the lazy liberals, you know all those sorts as far away from a Leave It to Beaver family as they come, I wonder what they think of the Republican display of perfect families.
Cause oncit, long time ago during my college days, I was a liberal and I’d have been rolling on the floor over those blonde wives and their picture perfect kids.
Now I know that such a family, putting aside the snark for a minute, is just the sort of thing most of us want in life.
It’s when, for various reasons, we don’t have this that we get a bit snarky and snakey about it.
Hope you know your point isn’t lost here but now that I’m older, no longer a silly liberal, I understand what the hostility was all about.
Eastwood has charismatic toughness. He will appeal to the Independents who don’t know much about politics. Who doesn’t like Clint Eastwood? He comes across as convincing, influential, persuasive and most of all serious. It’s a great pick. He’ll make your day.
Most excellent! It would bring down the house if he said this at the end of his remarks.
More likely is that he loves his country.
Unlike many who just bitch and moan about everything, he isn’t sitting on his lazy ass and pontificating on his computer...... he is taking action. To make his views known, to make a real impact, to serve as an example.

I concur.
The overriding fact for consideration is that Sarah shows no desire for a continued political career. She is able and willing to exist on the fringe absorbing the perks and fees.
Lastly, she is still young. She has plenty of time to grow into actual formidability.
Here’s a game I used to play with my girlfriends when we were little. In the morning, using a bicycle lying on the ground, we’d spin a tire. When it stopped, the one of us closest to the plug thing got to have “Rowdy Yates” as boyfriend for the day. Sometimes we’d go with “Flint McCullough” for a change. Pathetic, huh?
Good job, mazda77. I'm glad to see that you recognize it's not always best to forgive and forget, especially when it comes to the nature of a venomous snake.
Eastwood does NOT need the publicity for his new movie. In fact, he is taking a chance that he might offend a large portion of the potential audience for his movie. So he is taking a risk, probably because he loves his country.
This should make my day.
