Clint Eastwood To Speak At Republican Convention on Thursday: Fox News
deadline.com ^ | 8/29/12

Clint Eastwood will be speaking at the Republican Convention in Tampa on Thursday according to Fox News. The network’s website is reporting that a GOP source confirmed “that Eastwood is indeed the mystery speaker”. Thursday night’s line-up has a “To Be Announced” speaker scheduled ahead of Senator Marco Rubio and GOP Presidential nominee Mitt Romney himself. Eastwood’s name was floated earlier this week as the speaker along with former VP nominee Sarah Palin, Donald Trump and even a hologram of former President Ronald Reagan. No stranger to politics, Eastwood served as the Mayor of Carmel, California from 1986 to 1988. He supported John McCain in 2008 and endorsed Mitt Romney earlier this month at a Sun Valley fundraiser. “Now more than ever do we need Mitt Romney, I’m going to be voting for him,” the Oscar winner said as the GOP nominee stood next to him on August 4. If Eastwood is really heading to Tampa to speak Thursday evening, he’s going to have to get going soon. Deadline has learned that as of Wednesday afternoon, the actor/director was still at his home in Carmel. Eastwood’s latest film, Trouble With The Curve comes out on September 21, 2012.

“Great line!!! That and “Go Ahead....Make My Day” became Instant Clint-isms.”

My -ism is: “I just farted so hard that it hurts.”

A modern-day version is Thomas Kretschmann, if there is a movie involving Nazis, he’s most likely in it.

He’s been in Valkyrie, Eichmann, The Pianist, Downfall, Stalingrad (the German movie), as well as the upcoming Russian Stalingrad movie.

He was also in that Jane Fonda traitorous production “FTA” (I’ll leave it to you to find out what the letters F-T-A stood for)

Yeah, I remember you saying you didn’t like the Duke.

“The Quiet Man” is one of my all time favorites. Excellent bare-knuckles donnybrook between Wayne and Victor McGlaglen.

RE Boys From Brazil:

I liked that flick!!! It WAS that over-the-top sorta sci-fi/action/drama thing. The Dobermans were chilling.

Lawrence Olivier was in that too, I believe.

He was another good actor. Narrated the 26-part “The World At War” documentary that came out in 1973(????) or thereabouts.

Remember watching that show every Monday night with my old man (he was WWII Airborne). Damn...brings back memories. I was 13.

It’s replayed on the Military Channel.

RE:RE Boys From Brazil:
It WAS WAYYYYYYYYYYYY over-the-top! I want to throw feces at Gregory Peck when I see him in that movie.

“..I just farted so hard that it hurts.”...”

I’ve done that....

Room-clearing methane production is a standard attribute of the Hale lineage...passed from father to son to son...and thusly into the air and legend...

Rumor has it that some of the noxious potions used in WWI were inspired by the natural by-products of some of my ancestors...

The line “Stink, Stank, STUNK!” in the “Grinch Who Stole Christmas” theme song was inspired by us as well...at least that’s what I’ve heard tell....

“She was always a die-hard Republican.”

Maybe. We lived in the shadow (about 1/2 mile away) of the Reagan Library for a decade, and were able to see the many libs she invited drive by. (I stood on the corner holding protest signs!) I understand that the Library provides a venue for various political events, but SHE was front-and-center personally hosting libs, one of which was Teddy Kennedy.

Buc, if her urging influenced RWR to “convert”, then good for her; she becomes a saint in my eyes.

Peter Jackson’s King Kong too.

Yeah, they pretty much have him typecast for the part. He’s a good actor.

I remember him from the 1993 Stalingrad flick as well. Brutal movie.

There’s another good import from that time period called “Winter War” about the Soviet invasion of Finland. Excellent flick, if you haven’t seen it.

Peck was a famous Hollywood lib-lefty... but a good actor.

He did his parts well enough.

The movie “The Big Country” where he and Charleton Heston beat the living hell out of each other, and the camera keeps pulling back to emphasize how small they are is a great scene.

Back in the day, when those movies were out, I wasn’t tuned in politically to where folks stood; I just watched a good movie, and liked where the story took me.

Sorta wish it could get back to that time....but the whole “red pill/blue pill” thing is out of the bag...

We grow up, we see these people for who/what they are now.

Yeah, but I really meant that Palin may form a thrd party for someone to run against Romney in 2016, she would not necessarily be the candidate.

I do give her credit for many of the 2010 victories we had. I know she can do it again.

Josie Wales:

“Now remember, when things look bad and it looks like you’re not gonna make it, then you gotta get mean. I mean plumb, mad-dog mean. ‘Cause if you lose your head and you give up then you neither live nor win. That’s just the way it is.”

Ten Bears:

“It’s sad that governments are chiefed by the double tongues. There is iron in your words of death for all Comanche to see, and so there is iron in your words of life. No signed paper can hold the iron. It must come from men. The words of Ten Bears carries the same iron of life and death. It is good that warriors such as we meet in the struggle of life... or death. It shall be life.”
