Mitt Romney officially clinched the GOP presidential nomination on Tuesday to move a step closer in his five-year quest for the White House.
To roaring cheers at the Republican National Convention in the packed Tampa Bay Times Forum, the delegation from New Jersey put Romney above the 1,144-delegate threshold, ensuring he will be the GOP challenger against President Barack Obama in November.
Earlier, the 2,200-plus convention delegates approved a conservative platform that called for less government, opposed same-sex marriage and endorsed a "human life amendment" to ban abortion with no specific exceptions for cases of rape, incest or when the mother's life is threatened.
Romney and his running mate, Rep. Paul Ryan of Wisconsin, will be formally nominated on Thursday, and Romney's acceptance speech that night will conclude the convention that had its agenda delayed by Hurricane Isaac.
With the storm churning toward landfall in Louisiana, Republican officials appeared determined to stick to a tightened three-day schedule that kicked into full gear on Tuesday with official business and speeches accusing Obama of failed leadership and undermining the American dream...

I’d prefer he not die, but if we don’t get a Ryan presidency, this nation will die. If it has to come to imprecatory prayers, so be it. That being said, I do like the idea of Romney changing his mind to conservatism for good, as well as the idea of him stepping down, better.
I think you should update your list of murderers to include Obama and Clinton (the latter personally carried out many murders, the former is only refraining from murder until his 2nd term).
Or perhaps becoming more conservative? Remember, President Reagan was once an FDR Democrat.
Although your not interested my point was when things come to a head it will be easier to justify our following actions when we can say we voted.
Bear in mind ...the last part of that isn’t true.

btw, I liked that “anti-Chik-Fil-A-holes” bon mot, probably will steal that.
Bear in mind... factcheck.org is bogus ‘Bama agitprop.
Well put!
Thanks, all!
Which makes it even sweeter when they accuse Obama’s campaign of lying.
I’m fully aware of the theological implications. Which is why I don’t put God in a box of saying “God supports X for President”.
Best,
The opening day of the convention was milk toast at best. Republicans across the country are foaming at the mouth when they even hear Obama’s name mentioned. Good people were looking for a speech the opening day to get them fired up. Instead of a rocket blasting off we got someone letting a baloon fizzle. Why use the old Reagan line, “are you better off today then you were 4 years ago”
Then state some of the following:
When Obama took office gas prices were $1.70 today in many states gas is over $4.00 while Obama refuses to support US oil production yet give Brazil billions of dollars for oil expoloration.
“are you better off today then you were 4 years ago”
Then state how many houses are upside down today
“are you better off today then you were 4 years ago”
State how high food prices have gone up.
“are you better off today then you were 4 years ago”
etc.........
I’m there. Paul Ryan has been on my radar for years. And as Romney’s first presidential decision to pick him for a running mate? I say not bad...not bad at all! I think we have a strong bench and am hopeful many of those vocies and then some that we heard at the convention will be among the real change that is needed. First things first, defeat 0bama and send his cronies packing.
Next is the RNC. I’ve been on biz travel and need to catch up with the crap that was pulled re: rule changes, etc.
I agree.
And who HE gave us to support I believe the majority would/did ignore it. After all, He tells us ‘many’ are on the wide road to destruction and ‘only a few’ chose the narrow path to life.
Just a hello from a topic before the November disaster.
