Bambi, the Disney movie, was released in 1942. Thumper, the bunny was being admonished by his mother for saying something inappropriate at Bambi’s presentation. The language was meant to be evocative of a young, unschooled child. I am quite sure the Disney writer’s knew the proper grammar of the English language, but it would not have been useful to their intentions........

Huh?
Did Disney use subtitles in the movie? I could only believe your “explanation” if the mother did correct him, then and there, in print or verbally. I don’t remember the movie, I only remember seeing the error, in print, on the cartoon.
Are you pulling my leg?
