It did say 2/3 vote of the NRC committee, but Melinda Fredericks got that changed yesterday to be 75% in order for a change to happen.

The NRC committee meet regularly in Washington, DC. There is a man and woman from each state on that committee. Ours from Texas take that job very seriously and wouldn’t miss a meeting unless they were on their death bed.

Thank you for that information Marcella.

To everyone reading: I don’t know what to make of this yet. I have to educate myself further. I have been at work, and this came out of left field.

I have a sense that the “regular Joe” got screwed over in a big way today, but I can’t go with just that.

Quite frankly, this is a precipitous time in our country; and just when there seemed to be some semblance of unity (of purpose at least) this blows up in our collective faces.

The only thing I’m left with now (in my state of shock) is a hope that it’s not as bad as it seems. Basically this fervor (rightly or wrongly) seems to be stoked by a handful of bloggers.

Now that doesn’t mean it’s “wrong” to be angry about these changes, but if we are seriously going to start talking about a third party option down the road, based on what happened today, we’d better have more of a reason than simply because Michelle Malkin said this rule is bad.

We’d better know why rule 12 is bad, based on our own reading of it, and be prepared to explain why this makes any grassroot effort in the GOP impossible, or nearly impossible.

Otherwise, we may be “rebelling” against one group of “elites” to serve another.

Just my two cents. I’m going to continue to gather some more facts...
