For me it is a federalism issue. If a state wants to go commie, let them do it, and Massachusetts is about there already. What I want is to be able to move away from oppressive state government like that. Let states experiment and revise their plans. One day someone get it right, and others can copy— IF they wish to.
Congress, however, is not allowed to do that (if the SCOTUS would rule correctly).
” - - - Let states experiment and revise their plans.”
Let us expand a bit on your quote.
Does your quote imply that a local, State, or Federal Government can improve on the “invisible hand” of Adam Smith’s Free Market?
For the sake of discussion, let us assume that it does.
What is the evidence that supports this assumption?
All known Federal Government Monopolies, or Partial Monopolies, Ponzi Schemes, or other Programs that compete with private companies are now Bankrupt, IMHO.
If you know of an exception to the Fecal Touch of the Federal Fecal Finger, please list it in your reply on this thread.
BTW, take your time, and I’ll check back in a week or so - - - .
By the way, your strategy already failed. The infection you were okay with in MA, now the Supreme Court said we get it everywhere. Thanks for playing.
Wow, so you are just one of those Rah Rah guys and actually have no idea what you blather on about.
Taft as in Bob Taft Governor of Ohio. RINO Extraordinaire. The Party told us We need to reelect him because it would look bad that we challenged a sitting Gov. In a primary. Then he got reelected and vetoed Concealed Carry in Ohio. And got neck deep into a scandal which spread across Ohio and lost us not only the Governor Slot but the Ohio House and lost us an Ohio Senator Seat and a crapload of House of Reps. seats. Remember the "Culture of Corruption" speech Nancy Pelosi made? Well, she was talking about Bob Taft and cadre of other Republicans RINOS that managed to lose us the House and Senate and open the gate that allowed Obama to walk right in.
Hell it was Democrat Gov. Strickland that finally signed Conceal and Carry in Ohio. Yeah that's right On Gun Control the freaking RINO was waaaay more liberal than the Democrat. And because of that shit now Ohio is leaning Democrat in my own town we had one Democrat Councilman and he lived in what is known as the Union Ward. Its where all the teachers and city and state workers live in our town. Well now we have 5 Democrats as councilmen and guess what they ain't gonna be voted out for years. And all because we backed a no account RINO for Gov that got mixed up in bullshit dime store graft.
Taft cost Ohio big time he is a large part of why Obama is living at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. and Party Suck-ups like yourself worked hard to make that happen. And now you ask me to vote for a guy that makes Taft look like Ronald Reagan's Ultra Conservative Grandfather? (Taft wouldn't have even attempted something like Romneycare. He wasn't that stupid after all.)
Sorry but no. Not gonna happen Sparky you vote for Rinoboy Mitt. But not me. I've learned my lesson. I am done with RINOs Forever!
” - - - - Romney seems to be trying really hard to lose the election.”
I have pondered that thought many times. I still do not know if he really wants to win this election.
The comparison of Romney to McCain is a daily struggle or me to avoid.
The RINO Party that endorsed Romney seems to be caught in a do-loop of defeat.
McCain Method results in poor leadership qualities, as perceived by voters.
Romney seems to be inexplicably drawn to use the McCain Method.
Any ideas why Romney follows the McCain Method?
Nick you are entitled to your beliefs, but any delusion would be with any thoughts that Romney sees Obamacare as synonymous with what he enacted in Massachusetts. It is dishonest to make that assertion, state versus national is a very discernable difference. As such, it is also dishonest to assert he is somehow proud of Obamacare and thus won’t repeal it even though he has said he will.
It is fine with me if you choose not to vote for Mittens, but emotional assumptions do not sway my belief that Obama must be defeated. ALL of the primary opponents are supporting him, including Newt, because they realize the importance of defeating Obama for love of this country of ours.
This post of yours has made me realize how bad Romney is. Romney changed the debate from whether socialized medicine was good or bad to which version of socialized medicine is better. That is really scary. In 2010, more than half this country was against socialized medicine was bad. Now, we have this contingent of people, which you are part of, that believes some version of socialism is actually good. In 2 years Romney and Obama were able to make a giant leftward change in the U.S. opinion. Scary.
Please, I beg people like you to come back from the brink, and rediscover your conservative roots. We need you to believe what you believed 2 years ago. In four years it will be too late. Obama socialism and Romney socialism are both bad. Stop defending Romney socialism.
It's not emotion, it's logic. You hate Obama so much, you want to destroy the country and give up all your beliefs just to get him.
I think he meant the first Taft, not the 2000s one.
Ahhh yeah... scroll up. He was replying to my post about Taft and he got it wrong yet again. See he blathers on and has no idea what he talks about he assumes he knows what others are talking about, he fails in all aspects.
I’ll support Romney over Obama, but to paint him as some champion of states rights via Romneycare is laughable.
Both systems present an unquestionable path to fully nationalized healthcare. The ‘exchanges’, which are in Romney’s healthcare platform to this day—only to be implemented on a state by state level—rather than Obamacare’s specific form of state-by-state coercion, is really a pre-nationalization staging plan.
Romneycare has survived as far as it has with massive federal subsidies, which of course aren’t sustainable on a 50-state basis. You already have doctor shortages and extended times to get doctor appointments in MA now. MA just legislated state-level price controls to try to stem the rises in cost, but of course that will only make for more shortages and a less tenable system.
Romney wants to be president, and has figured out he has to campaign to ‘repeal and replace’ in order to do so. But his massive ego has been tied up in the idea of government forcing people to buy health insurance for years now, and he’s not going to stop with trying to prove the superiority of his technocratic, expanded-government solution.
I appreciate your comments. You give me credit/blame for implications I did not make. I do not endorse Romneycare. That was not my point at all. I am not convinced that Romneycare has worked well in Massachusetts. Frankly, I don’t live there and don’t really care. THAT is the point. Let states do what they will. Some programs will succeed, others will fail. Other states will see what works and what does not, and all should benefit.
I DO suggest that states are more likely to devise better working programs than Congress can.
I am not a fan of communism, and my post didn’t suggest that I was. States should be free to devise their own programs was all I was saying. Some will work, some won’t. Other states will see what works and perhaps adopt similar programs, tailored to their own states. Any of this is better than federal programs, which are always inefficient and fail to consider differences in the states.
And it is not Massachusetts’ fault that we have Obamacare. That blame is the laps of voters who elected him and democratsin Congress. (I don’t support Romneycare, only the right of states to screw up.)
O.K.
Sit on your hands or vote for Ron Paul. My guess is you are a Ron Paul guy.
When Obama’s jackbooted Tonton Macoutes come for your guns, plus a few other things, you can congratulate yourself on a job well done.
Romney and Ryan are not Taft. Its 2012, not the late 19th century, and they are running against a Marxist Muslim who hates America and is bankrupting America.
Its either Romney or the Marxist Muslim. Take your pick.
So you would have voted for that nincompoop Wilson?
Are you sure you are in the right forum???
Yeah.
When you talk to most people about Taft, they think about the President Taft, not some contemporary Rino and that WAS what I was talking about.
Your guess as with all your other posts is full of shit and so are you.
Seriously, your hyperbole with jackbooted thugs puts you in a class with Alex Jones.
Bottom line you are a "Party Clown" you'll get down on your knees and do your duty for anything with an "R" after its name. Be a good little patsy and while you are down there don't forget to swallow.
"Romney and Ryan are not Taft. So you would have voted for that nincompoop Wilson?"
One moire time dumbass, Bob Taft Gov. of Ohio the one you asswipe RINO lovers claimed we had to support because it would look bad for the party if we challenged him in the primaries for his second term. I understand this stuff is complicated for you. Maybe you should get an adult to help you with the bigger words so you can keep up. Preferably someone with at least a double digit IQ, and I suspect to do that you may need to search for a candidate outside your household.
” - - - You give me credit/blame for implications I did not make.”
My apologies for any offense, as that was not my intent.
My intent was to challenge the Libs money trap which is as follows: “Government at all levels can solve all of your problems better than the free market can. All you taxpayers have to do is give us all your money, and then trust us, and we will take care of you from cradle to grave.” Back in the day it was best stated as “All you have, are belong to us.”
Again, you provided the quote, and I expanded it, with NO intent to assign any ownership of my expansion to you.
My challenge took your quote and expanded it, very crudely as you have pointed out, to demonstrate how we can very easily reject the free market choice of supply and demand in favor of the myopic, self-interest, viewpoints of politicians and their bureaucrats.
We live in a time where the inertia of ever-increasing political control of all aspects of our society is having the destructive effect on society that allows dictatorial-minded men and women to dominate our society for generations to come.
If we do not stand up and oppose the IDEAS that they assume we should approve of, we the voters, will become the sheep who blindly obey our Liberal Masters.
Probably because Romney, like the rest of the GOP elite, is influenced by the mainstream media, and their mistaken belief that the GOP will lose if they cater to us kooks on the right, and lose the undecided moderates (all three of them), when the opposite has proven to be true.
