BRUNSWICK A number of activist groups protested the Great State of Maine Air Show on Saturday.
Veterans for Peace was one of the groups that protested the air show of war planes at Brunswick Landing.
Along with the negative environmental effects, the group said events like these glorify war.
According to the group, Thunderbird airplanes drop bombs and kill people.
Group members said these planes should not be used to entertain.
Veterans for Peace member Bruce Gagnon said, "... We believe that these air shows basically are recruiting with gimmicks and recruit our children in to these endless wars that benefit corporations. They don't benefit the American people."

And protesters glorify cowardice and a willingness to be used as political pawns.
I don't know how many times I have seen the liars act like one hand's worth is an innumerable multitude.
Yet it was a gentile soldier, a very bloody centurian, whom Jesus praised as having greater faith than anyone else in Israel.

This is pure and unadulterated idiocy.
I guess there are still a few hippies left from the 60’s that didn’t OD.
Their brains are fried though.
There is nothing like standing 300 feet from an F-15 with full afterburners blasting off....I guess if you could be that close to the Saturn V, but...
Many colonists opposed the Revolution at the time. These folks would fit right in.
Paradoxically, the next article in the “Latest Articles” list was, “NEW SEA-AIR BATTLE RAGING IN THE SOLOMONS; GERMANS SMASH HARDER AT STALINGRAD LINES (8/26/42)”
Yes, war results in horrendous realities, and usually begins as a result of lust, but until the Lord reigns - which will after a climatic war - then there will be wars that are necessary to preserve life with its God-given freedoms.
But the liberal mind refuses to accept that there are immutable moral laws, and that due to the Fall, and man’s innate proclivity to rebel and to sin, then restraints are necessary, and that in order to have beneficial liberty, there must be limits, the Bible ultimately providing them.
Instead, the ongoing revolution seeks to have a Garden of Eden without its God, and in which (in particular) there are no laws against sexual immorality, and no earning the right to privilege or pleasure and the responsibility that goes with them.
Instead, they want everything provided by the god called government at the expense of those who actually subscribe to the Biblical principles of earning and rewards, or by those who will be forced to support them, they being the “elites” who know what us best for us, and who climb up some other way to power, and deplore the idea that they should be debated and found worthy.
And which is not surprising, as the original “occupy” movement, of lust for power, was that of the devil seeking to occupy the throne of God, (Is. 14) and who thus sought to instil in Eve the idea that God ought to “share the wealth,” so that she would be like God, and was justified in her rebellion in order to attain what she now lusted for.
They promise a type of Woodstock, but which results in Haight-Ashbury, and then dictatorship by men who gain such by guile and or force. But like as in Communism which they esteem, the reality is far more oppressive and grievous than whatever valid abuses preceded them under a basic Biblical model.
While these modern day hippies invoke Jesus, they rebel against Him as Lord.
As for whether Jesus would join the military, while He would not raise up church armies and resort to the sword of men to deal with theological deviation (as in the Inquisitions, etc.) , the Spirit of Christ sanctioned the just use of the sword by the State for the punishment of evildoers, (Rm. 13:1-7; 1Pt. 2:13,14). However, when the military itself rejects Him and supports homosexuality and marries men with men, then they are fighting against the God whose help they need to implore.
They’re desperate to find nobility and honor in cowardice-it’s like yearning for water from the moon.
Anyone who does not appreciate the conversion of JP5 fuel to noise and visuals is not normal or human.
I used to live in California, and I attended alot of air shows.
I must have seen the Blue Angels performs about 25 times over the years, mostly at Pt. Mugu NAS (part of the Pacific Missile Test Center), but also at El Toro MCAS in Orange County and at Miramar NAS in San San Diego County. The last time I saw a Blue Angels Air Show was in late May of 2000 at the Bangor International Airport in Bangor, Maine.
It was the only time the Blue Angels ever performed in northern Maine since they were formed in 1946.
I saw the Thunderbirds just once.....on August 1, 1986 at Vandenberg Air Force Base in northern Santa Barbara County, California.
The Great State of Maine Air Show took place at what used to be Brunswick Naval Air Station in southern Maine. Before Brunswick NAS was closed during the latest round of base closings, the annual air show was free and always featured the Blue Angels. I heard Cindy Sheehan was going to show up and protest a few years ago, but the crazy never showed up.
These handful of protestors are not representative of the
majority of people in Maine. I’ve lived here twenty years and most people here are VERY pro-military.
Maine has had the highest per-capita number of National Guard members in Iraq and Afghanistan.
By the way, the Maine Air National Guard base at Bangor International Airport.....they call themselves the “Mainiacs.”
It is my understanding that only 3% or fewer actually bore arms against the British.
He's right about the recruiting part. My stepfather took me to see the Thunderbirds when I was 11, and I was so impressed that I decided right then that I wanted to grow up, become a veterinarian, and join the Army.
Folks, evil is a real thing, and it wants to eat you !
And these same idiots would be protesting separation of church and state BS if Jesus did join .
Oh, how nice, old hippies, bless their heart.
They also are funded by the Tides Foundation (Soros).
They're just another set of useful idiots.
