Veterans for Peace member Bruce Gagnon said, "... We believe that these air shows basically are recruiting with gimmicks and recruit our children in to these endless wars that benefit corporations. They don't benefit the American people." He's right about the recruiting part. My stepfather took me to see the Thunderbirds when I was 11, and I was so impressed that I decided right then that I wanted to grow up, become a veterinarian, and join the Army.

Another important function of air shows is to rattle the bones of our domestic communists. The message is: don’t even think it. This show certainly rattled these comrades. A periodic display of might is well worth the cost.
