New York (CNN) -- All nine people injured in Friday's shooting in front of the Empire State Building were wounded by police gunfire, New York Police Commissioner Ray Kelly told reporters Saturday.
The officers unloaded a total of 16 rounds at a disgruntled former apparel designer, killing him after he shot and killed a co-worker and engaged in a gunbattle with police, authorities have said.
Police said an investigation is under way after one officer shot nine rounds while another shot seven. Three victims suffered gunshot wounds, while the remaining six were hit by fragments.
The gunman, who served in the U.S. Coast Guard in the late 1970s, had two rounds left in his .45-caliber pistol. It holds eight rounds, Kelly said.
The violence erupted Friday morning just as visitors began to queue up to ascend the famous New York skyscraper in one of Manhattan's busiest neighborhoods.

DNC = Dumb Narcissistic Communists?
Me neither. My Kimber and 2 extra mags are at hand, all the time. I’ve been robbed and shot once; that won’t happen a 2nd time.
Sounds like the DHS needs to send some of that “practice” ammunition they’re buying to NYC.

In the video it looked like they got the guy and then kept shooting. What did they think...that they were in Dodge City or Tomestone a hundred thirty five years ago? Grand Standing? Time for some ‘Gun Control’ in NYC...the kind you get on the range.
The FoxNews report just on the radio said the 2 LEOs had never used their service pieces before, on duty. I guess they did the best they could, but 16 shots is pretty excessive considering they were >10-12ft away. “Target rich” environment for that many rounds.
They’ll be tested and deemed unworthy by the same inept officers who can’t shoot well. We can’t have civies running around who can shoot better than an ossifer.
Lol....PERFECT!!
It’d have been safer to just let the perp run out of ammo.
Someone here posted 9mm FMJ rounds, which would over-penetrate; I’d think HPs would be used in that crowded city environment, though.
Wait until the Socialist Security officers have a snafu like this with their hollow point bullets.
thank you for that info
When will the federal calls begin to test them for steroid doping? ‘Roid Rage kills.
Since you brought it up, do you feel police should be subjected to the same gun laws as legitimate law abiding citizens?
I believe they are.
So citizens in NY have same gun rights as do those in government?
You didnt specify NY.
Well since this story and the subject here is in regards NY, I assumed this is what we were talking about. So the bottom line here is you're incorrect.
You got better eyes than I do. I watched the CNN/Andy Pooper video 5x (in that article) and still can’t tell WTH is going on. Did you get to see a better video of it?
I have a Model 10 38+P that is a real tack driver...damned good gun...has a factory supplied Hogue rubber grip.....very nice revolver...
thank you for that info.
Frightening isn’t it, to know that some cops have hardly any training and from what I saw from those two in the TV then obviously there isn’t any kind of fitness test
Ouch; they won’t be able to “buff that out”. Same with NOAA. Next, The Weather Channel putzes will be issued Desert Eagles by DHS.
LOL I saw that massive black woman cop and called the wife oiver and we both rewinded the DVR and she too couldn’t beleive it.
NY finest , WOW, seems no fitbess test and her uniform was a mess, not ironed, all creased up and had to weight 250 pound at around five foot five
If there was any reason to get rid of affirmative action then that cop wold be the ideal reason.
