More than 200 people rallied for Lincoln's gay and lesbian community on the steps of the Capitol on Wednesday night, one day after police said a lesbian woman staged a hate crime one month ago.
The scene echoed the candlelight vigil the night after Charlie Rogers, 33, told police three men broke into her house, tied her up, carved anti-gay slurs into her skin and tried to light her house on fire.

I was following this story and comments on other sites (included MSM and Huff). There are a few things that amazed me about the people "supporting the cause".
Anger - I can't recall encountering such large groups of like minded people powered by anger and focused on hating anyone not like them.
Blind - they could not/did not want to see the facts. Many stated how they are experts and this woman is a legit victim. Anyone that questioned the facts received a dose of that anger & hate and were labeled "angry & hateful".
Plain wrong - they wanted this to be real; "I pray she's telling the truth", " I hope this turns out to be real". Personally, I wanted this to be a hoax; I would rather not have lunatics that are inclined to attack and torture people, roaming the streets..
As for the woman herself, she needs to apologize then be sentenced to some jail time. What would happen if I were to be picked up by police because I fit a vague description of the perps? "that's him, that's the guy".
