Tropical Storm Isaac
NOAA/NHC ^ | 22 August 2012 | NOAA/NHC

Posted on 08/22/2012 1:47:19 PM PDT by NautiNurse

Tropical Storm Isaac threatens to dampen the Republican National Convention Monday in Tampa, Florida. National media outlets are having a grand time anticipating a Grand Old Party washout. Tampa mayor Bob Buckhorn (D) announced Wednesday that he is absolutely prepared to call off the convention next week, with anticipated attendance of 70,000 delegates, party officials, journalists, protesters and others. Buckhorn has not indicated that he would attempt to mitigate liberal protests or a hastily planned Joe "Plugs" Biden visit to Tampa during the convention.

Time will tell. Stay tuned...

What if I don’t want my heart broken any more? Because I’d like to watch it.

These weather people LOVE to hang crepe. I’m very worried about our people on the coast. Winds will make us lose power, because, as you know, my little town is like a forest with the Military Park and all the very old, beautiful trees which fall. It just takes one to knock out the grid.

Unprecedented rain in Palm beach county. Some areas got 15 inches of rain (and we’re not done!)....kids are floating on rafts in the street...amazing storm.

I still say East TX also, or the area where the “Swamp People” live and hunt gator. Where is that, Morgan City, New Iberia, Houma?

But with the BP oil spill possibly harming the coast of LA, 75 mph winds for 2 days, flooding will occur in NOLA as well. Storm surge over the levees, Lake Pontchartrain. FEMA will fail. Obama and the Dem mayor will not get any criticisms, Jindal will be blamed.

Just heard Joe Bastardi on Hannity. He is not backing down much on his dire predictions for NOLA. Mainly because he thinks it will drop a foot or more of rain on the SE side of NO which will really test the levees. He did say he did not think that the Ms. And La. Coasts would be hit that hard. He still thinks that if we see an eye form in next few hours, that it will strengthen very rapidly and could be a 2 or 3 coming onshore. he said something about the storm surge but I missed it.

We went through a hurricane coming up through Natchez years ago and it was pretty scary even that far inland but I think it was a 3 when it hit the La. Coast. Those big old Ms. trees can for sure get scary bending and breaking in the wind.

Well Mary Landreiu’s brother the democrat mayor has done nothing so far but tell folks they are on their own. I don’t get it.....if a republican mayor said that all hell would break lose.

Gosh, that’s not good news at all. We went through Katrina 7 years ago, almost to this date. She was UGLY, but Isaac is not Katrina. Our Coastal friends are going to get hit. I’m already praying for them.

Please check your mail!

The Florida Atlantic coast was absolutely pummeled today.

Tampa local news reported a waterspout a few blocks from the Tampa Convention site this afternoon.

Hi onyx. Say some prayers that Isaac lands east of New Orleans (I live between N.O. and Baton Rouge). We have no work for next two days due to hurricane. BTW, we listen here to Bob Breck; he knows his stuff:

Isaac moving more west?
posted by Bob Breck at 2:24 PM (CT)

Latest satellite loops show Isaac has taken a slight jog to the west. Is this a trend or a temporary "wobble". Frankly, I don't know as computer models still have a spread between near Houston to Mobile. I still feel Isaac is going to do something that surprises us...like rapid intensification. Tuesday PM thru dark on Wednesday will be our worse weather conditions. Of course the track will dictate who gets clobbered the worse, but unless Isaac keeps on a more westward course well off shore to our south, we will get quite a hammering for 24-36 hours beginning midday on Tuesday. Rainfall amounts could exceed 10 " with the surge in Lake P. 5-10 feet. We do have a much stronger levee system post Katrina and Isaac will give it a good test. More to come later this PM after next NHC advisory at 4 PM. Stay tuned!

This is already a deadly storm, but that said the “hurricane's” hype as not lived up to the billing. Considering the powers that be thought this would be a hurricane, despite sucking up dry air, before Key West is inexcusable. The visual evidence was there, dry air, but the guess work of intensification in the face of a republican pow wow has been dishonest.

The thing is still sucking dry air in the “dirty” part, but signs of intensification are there. I was there for Andrew when the storm suddenly exploded right before landfall. If the dry air gets pushed out this storm could have serious ramifications (any storm hitting NO does because of the “bowl”) but hype has been embarrassing.

Before anyone says tinfoil look at who runs the entire Executive Branch including the IRS. Also the globull warming hysteria has been a good indicator that politics can control “the science”. Dry air has slowed (intensification) this storm down, despite what the “experts” predicted 750 miles ago.
