Tropical Storm Isaac
NOAA/NHC ^ | 22 August 2012 | NOAA/NHC

Posted on 08/22/2012 1:47:19 PM PDT by NautiNurse

Tropical Storm Isaac threatens to dampen the Republican National Convention Monday in Tampa, Florida. National media outlets are having a grand time anticipating a Grand Old Party washout. Tampa mayor Bob Buckhorn (D) announced Wednesday that he is absolutely prepared to call off the convention next week, with anticipated attendance of 70,000 delegates, party officials, journalists, protesters and others. Buckhorn has not indicated that he would attempt to mitigate liberal protests or a hastily planned Joe "Plugs" Biden visit to Tampa during the convention.

Time will tell. Stay tuned...

“Ugh! I’m heading down to Florida for the Convention on Sunday.

I’m heading down to the Keys on Sunday myself ... earlier I had heard Cat 1 at best ... those aren’t bad. Now I hear Cat 4/5 ... they evacuate the islands in those cases. Ugh.

BLAM!

Between TS Debby and now Isaac, looks like we may be taking the heat this season. Debby did a number on my banana plants. Looked like they had been run through a big paper shredder. Drowned my baby avocado tree too. Sigh...

I'm heading down to Florida for the Convention on Sunday.

Pack your rubber boots and a poncho. Skip the umbrella. No good in the wind. Make sure you have water and a few packs of crackers handy in your hotel room. You just never know...

Welcome to Florida!

Do the supplies include chocolate and recipes?

FWIW, the latest computer model run (ECMWF) shifts landfall east and puts Isaac as a Cat 4/5 storm at the mouth of the Mississippi next Wednesday, Aug. 29.

Seems like an excellent early call. If the circulation is reforming south (looks like it), it may wind up a bit farther west - east Texas should pay attention.

Here's hoping Hispaniola does the usual shred job!

It has been said that Obama is the luckiest candidate ever. Could this be the storm that would do 2 things. 1 - effectively washout the Republican Convention, and 2 - allow Obama to come out looking like the anti-GWB for how well he handles this crisis?

Interesting times.

Remembering Camille, it was a nondescript storm south of Cuba and going nowhere.

It turned north, shot the gap at Yucatan into the Gulf and went berserk.

Both.

They’ve got great speakers lined up. We want all of them on in primetime.

What we do NOT need is nonstop coverage of silly Shep and Anderson Cooper hogging the camera in 90 mph gusts, like it’s news that hurricanes produce wind.

I don’t know where Issac will go but a Republican Convention planned for the end of August in Florida? Why didn’t they pick Galveston or Mobile or something reasonable like that! snort/>/>>

I hope it doesn’t hit the sanabel and captiva islands. Selfishly we were going there in a few months to shell and fish.

OK, NautiNurse has posted so now it is an official storm. 5 PM Orlando news talking about all the bad effects to be felt on the East Coast if the eye is over the West Coast of Florida.

When in panic, when in doubt,
run in circles, scream and shout.
