Tropical Storm Isaac
NOAA/NHC ^ | 22 August 2012 | NOAA/NHC

Posted on 08/22/2012 1:47:19 PM PDT by NautiNurse

Tropical Storm Isaac threatens to dampen the Republican National Convention Monday in Tampa, Florida. National media outlets are having a grand time anticipating a Grand Old Party washout. Tampa mayor Bob Buckhorn (D) announced Wednesday that he is absolutely prepared to call off the convention next week, with anticipated attendance of 70,000 delegates, party officials, journalists, protesters and others. Buckhorn has not indicated that he would attempt to mitigate liberal protests or a hastily planned Joe "Plugs" Biden visit to Tampa during the convention.

Time will tell. Stay tuned...

I got the last “D” batteries from Home Depot about 2 hours ago... I’m surprised people are getting ready this soon...

I was in Target yesterday (Ft. Myers) and saw people’s carts filled with water. I bought 3 jugs, which left maybe at most 10; the jugs had been on 3 tiered shelves and 2 were bare.

I sympathize with Isaac then. I remain disorganized too.

and we'll ride it out here in Key West ... they've already closed the schools for Monday.

Maybe it will clean up some of the elected officials

Grand jury calls for firings in iPad thefts

A Monroe County grand jury has called for the dismissal of the county's top two employees because of errors in judgement and they did not do enough to monitor the former head of the county's Technical Services Department, who is accused of stealing and selling county-owned iPads and iPhones. (See the full report)….

…..The grand jury called for the termination of County Administrator Roman Gastesi and Deputy County Administrator Debbie Frederick…..

….. Druckemiller is accused of stealing 52 county iPhones and iPads and selling them to county employees, Commissioners and others. Earlier this month, she pleaded not guilty to a felony charge of scheming to defraud and dealing in stolen property, though one of her attorneys indicated they are discussing a plea deal with prosecutors.

Just a couple links for you. This storm could be a drought breaker, and a nasty flood maker for a few states. It will not need high winds to create a lot of damage based on the current projection.

Thanks so much NN for the thread!! No one can do this the way you do.experience is everything.

I Just came back from Key West Tuesday to attend o0ur annual Keys GOP Reagan fundraiser with featured speaker Herman Cain. He was awesome.

Looks like my kids will get a direct hit down there. From what I have seen it looks like 60-70 mph around midnight Sunday night. This thing is big. Will easily have effects all the way over to Andros. I would think even when its at key west. Any idea on the forward speed by Sunday night? Once again thanks for what you do.

Holly won she will represent us well and everyone I have talked to says Ramsay is good. I met him and his wife at the Double Tree on Tuesday night. He seemed like a good guy.
I know Mark Kohl and hope he will get back in, he’s a class guy.
Even after 40 years down here I am still not into local politics, its all national for me.
