ABOARD A US MILITARY AIRCRAFT US military chief General Martin Dempsey denounced ex-officers Tuesday for waging a campaign against President Barack Obama, arguing that soldiers had a duty to stay above the political fray.
Wading into a potential minefield during a hotly contested White House race, Dempsey voiced his disapproval of a group of retired military members and CIA officers who have accused Obama of spilling sensitive national security details to help secure his re-election.
Asked if the group's criticism was valid or useful, Dempsey, chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, said he would not comment on the substance of their allegations.
But he added: "As to the latter, is it useful? No, it's not useful. It's not useful to me."

Amen to that...30 yr Navy and can agree with everything you said.
I’ve posted this before but it always makes me smile:
A retired four-star related the story when he discovered he was no longer in the service. He saw a convoy going down the interstate and driving too fast. He pulled up next to the lead vehicle and put his hand out to signal they slow down. The driver of the lead vehicle quickly looked at him and gave him the middle-finger salute. The general said at that moment he realized he has no longer in the service.
“stay above the political fray?”
What would the general say his comments are? “Above the political fray?” NOT! Stupidity should hurt.
HEY GENERAL DEMPSEY: Bite me; you suck up.
Some real whackos attacked him for that. They said an Air Craft Carrier had to turn around to rescue him because of who he was. As if Air Craft Carriers just go on their merry way after flight ops. Bush was picked up by a sub that was On Station to pick up downed fliers as SOP. Geesh, you can learn that from John Wayne films. BTW, the Jap Commander on Kiki Jima had a reputation for cannibalism.
What logic dictates that those who served to protect liberty for all should be denied it for themselves? Good order and discipline rightly require active duty military to not PUBLICALLY enter the political fray; but veterans are an altogether different story.
Exactly. Doing as he was told, being the good little obedient soldier
Just like Colin Powell kept his big mouth shut.
You can beat your ass that liberal Dempsey was promoted under the liberal Obama. Nothing else needs to be said.

I prefer the moniker REMF. I had the displeasure of working with a fair share of officers who NEVER should have been allowed near soldiers.
I'm not ready to call GEN Dempsey a REMF, but it's getting close.
Where was this guy when Gen. Wesley Clark was bashing Bush on every broadcast he could find?
Yeah, thought so.
I have a “suggestion” for him: If you’re only going after someone for bashing Obama, pull up your skirt. Your liberal bias is showing.
Exactly. He is the only officer that is acting politically. The others are ex officers, allowed to do as they please. The General should be court marshaled for doing exactly what he is accusing the ex officers of doing.
And William Henry Harrison, Ulysses S. Grant, George H.W. Bush, Teddy Roosevelt, Zachary Taylor, Andrew Jackson, Rutherford B. Hayes, James Garfield... Only 12 presidents in our history never served in the military prior to entering politics. Interestingly, that number includes Woodrow Wilson, FDR, Clinton and Obama - 4 of the presidents that have moved us toward socialism the most during their presidencies...
Yes, that is pretty much the subject they are about. Check ‘em out.

Snorted soda thru my nose when I saw your picture/poster, LOL. Ironic that militants hit the general’s airplane on the ground yesterday, isn’t it :-)

I think we civilians should be contacting the joint chiefs of staff to express our dismay that the Chairman is so totally ignorant of the US Constitution. Anyone have contact info?
