It’s only been since Election 2000 that Big Media stopped pretending to like America. At all.

It was the Great Clinton’s Telecommunications Act of 1996 (”to protect the children”) that allowed Big Media to coalesce into the America-hating monster they’ve aspired to be for so long.

FU Big Media, and your worthless god Hussein!

FU!

I may go back a little further than you, back to the time of *Uncle* Walter Cronkite, Johnson Vs Goldwater, etc, etc.

I think I agree with that. I wish I had the time to go and try some research. But several things happened right around 2000 that may have helped the MSM swerve left with the blinker on and horn blaring.

Just thinking about it....

- Internet news and blogs "started reporting news" - Talk Radio had legs and was growing - Fox New Channel to compete with CNN etc. - Dot.Com bubble burst, Tyco, Enron, Recession was big news in the newest forum (Internet).

I think the MSM, in there zeal to compete and maintain their stranglehold/monopoly of "all news fit to print" naturally went harder, faster and louder in the direction they were already leaning. As they turned into the Drive By media they had no clothes on or cover from being objective.

Remember the headline following a Bush election, "WHAT WENT WRONG?!" I think it was NYT (not sure). Interesting thoughts.

“It’s only been since Election 2000 that Big Media stopped pretending to like America. At all.”

Or maybe that’s just when it became noticeable? The internet has changed the game to some extent....and now we at least know with certainty when the media lies to us.

My latest example - the FRC shooting. Prior to the interwebs, I would have no idea it had happened, if I had missed the 17 second snippet on CBS. And even that snippet left out any connection to 1) Gays and 2) Chik-fil-A.

I think the media has been lying (especially through ommission) since the days of ‘the most trusted man in America’...but its only been blatantly obvious in recent years.
