In an interview with Laura Ingraham, White House reporter Jake Tapper said that the media is failing the country.
"A lot of people are hurting out there. Unemployment is 8.3 percent. That doesnt even take into account the underemployed, he said, arguing that too much time has been spent not talking about the economy.
Tapper also criticized the media for not giving enough attention to the war in Afghanistan.
"We are spending a lot of time in the last few weeks, those of us in the political world, political journalists and also politicians, talking about things other than the economy," said Tapper. "[A] lot of people are hurting out there. Id like to see more action taken and more emphasis given to this issue.

Listening to his interview now:
Hey Jake, this has been going on since the watergate hearings.
Tapper better now hire a food taster and taxresolution.com.
The guy should be heeding his own words.
The Media is THE most dangerous enemy of the United States of America. Period.
WOW!! Who knew, thanks for informing us Jake.
I've always been a little suspicious of that however, for like 50 years.
It’s only been since Election 2000 that Big Media stopped pretending to like America. At all.
He talks a good game but rarely does much of anything to ruffle the preening potentate’s feathers.
I’ve always liked Jake....
It was the Great Clinton’s Telecommunications Act of 1996 (”to protect the children”) that allowed Big Media to coalesce into the America-hating monster they’ve aspired to be for so long.
FU Big Media, and your worthless god Hussein!
FU!
tapper is a phony. Can you imagine not even discussing the forged birth certificate? The arpaio news conference? soetoro’s social security number etc etc. Who da hell is he kidding.
I may go back a little further than you, back to the time of *Uncle* Walter Cronkite, Johnson Vs Goldwater, etc, etc.
Sorry Jake put a sock in it. To little to late. NOTHING about the constant lying and illegal moves by the regime by Jake?
It’s tough to swim upstream against a tsunami.
While the MSM is fading in influence, in combination with the Democrats it’s still a major force.
Rush pointed out how the Dems always put out some outrageous statement like “Romney is a felon” on the day the unemployment number is released, so the media can avoid the economic discussion.
I think I agree with that. I wish I had the time to go and try some research. But several things happened right around 2000 that may have helped the MSM swerve left with the blinker on and horn blaring.
Just thinking about it....
- Internet news and blogs "started reporting news" - Talk Radio had legs and was growing - Fox New Channel to compete with CNN etc. - Dot.Com bubble burst, Tyco, Enron, Recession was big news in the newest forum (Internet).
I think the MSM, in there zeal to compete and maintain their stranglehold/monopoly of "all news fit to print" naturally went harder, faster and louder in the direction they were already leaning. As they turned into the Drive By media they had no clothes on or cover from being objective.
Remember the headline following a Bush election, "WHAT WENT WRONG?!" I think it was NYT (not sure). Interesting thoughts.
Either that, or he's been told to fall on the sword of truth to try to protect the rest of the herd of ilk.
Who is Jack Thomas? Related to Jim?
“Its only been since Election 2000 that Big Media stopped pretending to like America. At all.”
Or maybe that’s just when it became noticeable? The internet has changed the game to some extent....and now we at least know with certainty when the media lies to us.
My latest example - the FRC shooting. Prior to the interwebs, I would have no idea it had happened, if I had missed the 17 second snippet on CBS. And even that snippet left out any connection to 1) Gays and 2) Chik-fil-A.
I think the media has been lying (especially through ommission) since the days of ‘the most trusted man in America’...but its only been blatantly obvious in recent years.
I remember occasionally seeing pro-American coverage in the 1970’s especially with the bicentennial, but the Great Clinton allowing more than 10 media outlets to be owned by more than one entity gave them the monopoly of hate against America that they so enjoy today.
His WONDERFUL Telecommunications Act of 1996 was supposed to protect children, and most if not all of that was tossed by the USSC, but few even knew about the media ownership issue, until I think Rush gave it air time.
CNN stopped pretending to like America after Clinton.
Faux News stopped pretending to be right wing.
And 50% of America thought it was ok to hate America because we had a Republican president in 2000.
My .02.
