Well, I just didn’t have many options left. Most all other large conservative sites had already stopped resisting. The other candidates and potential candidates: Perry, Bachmann, Cain, Gingrich, Santorum, even Palin, DeMint, West, Walker and just about anyone who would potentially be the miracle candidate to come out of the convention had already endorsed Romney. Most of the conservative pundits and talkers endorsed him including Coulter, Malkin, Hannity, Rush, Levin, Reagan; Ingraham, et al. Even the pro-life, pro-family sites were endorsing him. Even the Christian sites. And many of the tea party groups. I was beginning to feel like the Lone Ranger here. It was pretty damn drafty with my butt hanging out there like that with only a few holdout sites left and our dear loyal supporters here on FR. And I was seriously losing sleep over this. My opinion of Romney has not changed one iota, but I now think it is more important that we wipe out the Marxists if we can this election and take on the RINOs in the next battle. My personal opinion is not important, especially if we’re just a small group of devout resistance fighters and holdouts. Guess I’ll reluctantly have to join Palin, Levin and the others and go all in with our last choice, last chance candidate. It sucks but there it is. But if he pulls a McLame on us, we’re pretty much done for. Praying for the best.

I detest Obama but had made up my mind up I would not vote for mittens. You were not the only one here who feels strongly against him being our president so you shouldn't have felt like the Lone Ranger.
I will reluctantly reconsider but we have to hold his feet to the fire. Remind him and his appointees constantly of his conservative promises and make it clear he will lose the conservative support if he doesn't fulfill those promises.
Like you, I'll be praying for the best.

As a conservative site, Free Republic is pro-God, pro-life, pro-family, pro-Constitution, pro-Bill of Rights, pro-gun, pro-limited government, pro-private property rights, pro-limited taxes, pro-capitalism, pro-national defense, pro-freedom, and-pro America. We oppose all forms of liberalism, socialism, fascism, pacifism, totalitarianism, anarchism, government enforced atheism, abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, racism, wacko environmentalism, judicial activism, etc. We also oppose the United Nations or any other world government body that may attempt to impose its will or rule over our sovereign nation and sovereign people. We believe in defending our borders, our constitution and our national sovereignty.

The GOPe was right – pick any liberal with an R and conservatives will still vote for him/her. Since I won’t, I’ll read the FR prep and dog threads and not the Romney promoting ones. “America’s exclusive site for God, Family, Country, Life & Liberty conservatives!”
Jim, Obama has always been the worst choice for America. Worse than McCain, far worse than Romney, even worse than Paul.
Hardly any Freepers wanted Romney, but he is Obama’s opponent and has been for three months. He is the only viable choice.
Regardless of his shortcomings, if you love America, you have to support him against Obama. That is the conservative position...Obama cannot be allowed to win. You, along with the rest, are doing the right thing. Some of us have known this for awhile (and caught hell for saying so).
On another note, I hope the anti Mormon rants will be relegated to the Religion Forum. They have really given FR a black eye. Bigotry (that is certainly what it has looked like) is ugly and unbecoming to Free Republic.
I understand your personal feelings about LDS, but I’m telling you straight because I care about FR.

I've made similar posts about my feelings toward Romney, but that we had to get the bamster out of the WH at all costs.
For that I was called Godless and accused of promoting Godlessness on this God fearing site....and worse.
I hope things settle down around here now that you have reached this decision.

Battle Plans....(for what it is worth)
As a young teenager, I once heard a war story from a 2-Star Army General that included the following that I have never forgotten (paraphrased). Some may sound familiar.
"The best battle plan I ever drew up was doomed to failure by itself. The first tank to turn left instead of right, the first squad to go to far to fast, the first enemy fire that splits a line, the first air support that goes short.... A battle plan is made of lots of tiny plans and the best you can do to achieve an objective is to win most of tiny plans. Win the skirmishes and live to fight more of them........snip.....
....Following my briefing of several captains (don't recall ranks for sure) about our battle plan, a young man asked, 'If they get to this hill before we get to this valley, which side of this river do you want us to die fighting on?' I told them they were ordered to survive this battle. You do what ever you guys need to do to achieve this objective. Don't be to proud to live, don't be ashamed to fall back but don't be afraid to die either. Aggressive soldiers live longer. Smart Soldiers get medals. Aggressive smart soldiers become Generals. We'll win this battle and fight a lot more. This plan is my best suggestion to achieve this objective. But you guys will be out there killing the bad guys. Do what you have to."
So goes it today. Many RINOs (incumbents included) have already been dismissed. Several others are targeted. Soon the "establishment GOP" will include true conservatives. They are young now but their numbers are growing along with their influence. We are winning the skirmishes and battles. But the war goes on. We will bring individual liberty and states rights back to good governance along with fiscal responsibility and constitutional Justices on the SC in the years to come. The socialist, Marxist, liberal left has been very patient in their endeavors. So must we.
Especially when you begin to realize it won't really matter too much...

I fear for the future of our country, for its very existence, as I'm sure many, if not most of us do at this point in its history. It is my belief that four more years of this administration will be so devastating that it may very well not survive.
When the guns get too hot, we have to let go. I still love you.
Give us any Biblical passage that suggests Christians should vote for evil men that have funded abortion, attended Planned Parenthood fundraisers and promoted the homosexual agenda.
It is a SIN to support evil men thinking something good is going to come from it. Sin has consequences...for the nation, for the conservative movement and for you and Free Republic.
There is no way to justify a vote for Romney to the Creator of the Universe.

I think the problem goes beyond Romney. We can’t get more than 19% of the people to vote in primaries for the state of Washington. The same damn people just slide back into office with out much problem.
Also, there are republicans that promise the moon, campaign on conservative values then go limp when they get to D.C.
Then of course, there’s the fact that nobody wants to stand up for the truth anymore. We can’t say things anymore because it’s not politically correct.
And look how complacent conservatives are with their own children. The children are the future and if they are being brainwashed by libs, what good will it do if we have a good conservative candidate to run? They will just ignore it.
If we are going to rebuild America, it’s going to be a long battle. We have to take back the schools, media and the churches in this country if we are to hope for better candidates to run in the future.
