Ryan is a good man, but does not redeem the abortionist/homosexualist statist Romney
Aug 11, 2012 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 08/11/2012 4:42:48 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

Except for his unfortunate go along to get along support of TARP, bailouts, stimulus spending and the increased credit limit, etc, Ryan is a pretty good choice. Probably the best choice of the RINOS that were on Romney's short list. I support Ryan for the vice presidency. Wish he were at the top of the ticket, though.

But I still cannot and will not support the grand father of ObamaCare. Romney still loves and brags about his bastard brainchild, RomneyCare, even today when he knows what an anti-liberty socialist POS it is.

And the fact that he advocated that abortion should be safe and legal in America for over three decades of his adult lifetime and even advocated that Roe v Wade should be supported and sustained as settled law precludes any consideration whatsoever by this pro-life Christian for Myth Romney for the presidency.

And the fact that he boasted that he would be better for "gay rights" than Ted Kennedy, and proved it just increases my resistance.

That, and his penchant for gun control, his continuing support for global warming, gays in the scouts, gays in the military, and his record of appointing liberal judges makes it all but impossible for me to support him.

Lastly, we're having a bit of changeover on our moderator staff. At least two moderators resigned this afternoon after I flatly refused to rein in a so-called anti-Mormon "bigot" on FR. Well, if being in opposition to false prophets and false prophecy makes a Christian believer a bigot, then I guess I'm a bigot. I've posted before that I flat do not believe that the Book of Mormon is the true word of God. Nor do I believe that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. The Christian bible warns us to be weary of false prophets and that I am. Romney being the presumptive Republican nominee does not change that fact.

If you don’t like Romney, fine, don’t vote for him but do it on the basis of his policies, not his religious views because that makes you a bigot.

Ahh, all too typical of Romney supporters. Having to resort to labels and name calling to defend ones positions when your flawed or failed logic fails you. I'm used to the tactic as it is an old one straight out of the old Democrats playbook. No, I'm no bigot and I do have a right to know what a mans religion is and how it may affect the candidate and his decision making process, to examine it in evaluating him for the public office position to which he is applying for. As a matter of fact I consider it part of my duty as an informed voting American citizen.

If you don't like that then that is just tough so get used to it. Go ahead, pout, stomp your feet and throw your childish hissy fits all you want. I could easily think of some sarcastic and insulting names to call you but I suspect you've already been called them before, many times in deed. And yes, I will vote for whomever I choose to and for whatever reason I choose to even if you personally do not approve even if that makes me some kind of bigot in your eyes. Being called a derogatory name by a Liberal or a RINO or someone opposed to my religion has never bothered me nor caused me to change my mind. Chew on that for awhile FRiend and may God bless you!

I don't remember any such thing, it is absurd.

JR was never for Romney your internet claim that Jim Robinson of freerepubic backed Mitt Romney in 2008 is an incredibly dishonest attempt to legitimize Romney.

"as it did in 2008 when Jim supported him against McCain."

Wow, that is way over the limits.

Another liberal troll that trolls freerepublic mocking and attacking it’s conservatism.

I agree with your line of reasoning.

What I have wanted is to see government extracted from our daily lives. This means that the private sector must carry more of it’s load.

If the Ryan plan moves in that direction, it could be a good thing. His plans for Medicare may involve that. If he is successful there, a similar plan could be devised for Social Security. That is a reduction of government involvement in our daily lives. It certainly isn’t the cessation of all involvement, but it’s a healthy move in the right direction.

It certainly beats coming up with Medicare Part-D.

On the other hand, Romney wants to repeal Obamacare so he can replace it. Good grief. Now, if he’s going to replace it with private sector fixes, that might also be good.

We’ll have to see how this plays out. It may be better than we expected. I just don’t know right now.

I’m willing to listen, but if I detect these two are only moving the deck chairs, why bother.

Either we’re going to get real substantive changes, or we’re not. If not, why bother.

The archeological evidence and FACTS that have been and continue to be found in the ME support the Bible.

You might want to go to the library and check out "The Bible Unearthed," Archaeology's new vision of ancient Israel and the origin of its sacred texts published in 2001. It is not faith shattering but certainly something to reflect on - further proving my point that FAITH alone is the compelling force of any religion.

Jim....If we were electing a church elder or deacon I would stand beside you and go to my grave fighting beside you....but we are not....

God also gave us a brain.....and to give a vote to Obama....is the same as voting for him....Yes you stood on principle but then what???? If Obama wins, there is no path back to the values this country was founded on.....With Romney, there is a chance.....

Remember what the scripture says....”be wise as serpents”....

if we lose this battle....we lose the war.

No, I'm no bigot...

I don't often hear an alcoholic admitting he is an alcoholic either but that doesn't negate the truth. Not only are you a bigot but a childish bigot, a true Archie Bunker.

You think you're clever but you display ignorance and intolerance. Hey, go for it, this is America, home of fools as well as the brave.

I'm not against what you are, I just don't....

While traveling the Great River Road from Lake Itaska Minnesota to Venice Lousiana, we happened on Nauvoo Illinois. There is a wonderful visitors center and museum. The site contains many many acres and the original streets and several of the original buildings. A great deal of time, effort and money has been spent to restore the historic site.

In the glass cases are several very worn leather bound Bibles and New Testaments. The term dog earred is a good descriptive. There are several large paintings representing Jesus Christ in important events. There is at least one very well done sculptures in white marble. All are testimony to a strong Christian tradition.

There was an old man (about my age). He came to be our guide. It was his position as a missionary of sorts. He was salt of the earth type and knowing we were not LDS took pains to point out exhibits of interest.

We visited one of the living history exhibits, a wheel wright shop. It was the original building and contained in addition to the tools of the trade am original wagon fully loaded with the specified goods necessary for the journey west. If you did not have the specified goods and wagon you did not go.

The presenter asked the group of 25 or so if they had ancestors who made the journey from Nauvoo to Utah. The children all turned around looking to parents for guidance. Then, they enthusiastically raised their hands as parents gavetem a nod. All but 4 of the group were LDS with ancestors who made the journey. They were from all over the country. They were witness to history up close and personal.

At the time there were Mormonophobes in Ilinois who felt it their Christian duty to kill and chase away those who saw things differently. We know for certain their tradition is alive and well on Free Republic.

Jim answered that for you yesterday, right on this thread:

Absolutely not. The context was to keep Romney in the race so McCain could not win and it could be decided at the convention (hoping for a conservative candidate to get the nod). But Romney folded early and Huckabee couldn’t pick up the slack. The rest is history.

It was anyone but RudyMcRomney in those days for FR.

Posting the falsehood over and over won't make it true, but may get some people to believe it.

More of Jim's statements about Romney:

There’s absolutely no way I could ever vote for an abortionist/homosexualist/statist etch-a-sketch liar like Romney, even if I lived in a swing state. I’d have to hang up my spurs and retire if I did and I’m nowhere ready to do that yet. Too many battles left to fight.

Well, I’m just not going to vote for an abortionist/homosexualist/statist. I stated that fact when Romney and Rudy first declared their intentions to run for the presidency many years ago and I have no intention of ever changing.

There you go again.

Again judging someone’s intent and character based on something you “don’t remember.”

I never said FR backed Romney, I never said Jim “backed” Romney.

I said, if my memory serves correct, (and as your own quote attests) that here on the forum Jim gsupported Romney against McCain...and I indicated what I meant by that in my last post. I believe he had positive things to say regarding Romney at the time in an effort to deny McCain the nomination. That’s all.

I have asked Jim to come on the thread and clairfy.

But...given your absolute, “call someone a liar mentality”, there’s no need for further dialog between you and I. You have shown quite clearly what your agenda and inclinations are, in spite of my honest statement to you to the contrary.

It’s beyond any honest misunderstanding now...it is you simply impuning somone’s character and intent because you disagree with them...and doing it with a will and knowingly.

You double down on your lie.

Mormon dishonesty in service to Bishop Romney is truly on display here.

Admin, please remove the personal attack in #2576.

Jeff Head is, by far, one of the best and most honest FReepers we have. There is not a dishonest bone in his body, let alone any type of religion-based dishonesty.

I won’t let this personal attack go unanswered. Jeff is one of the good guys.

You are correct, Jeff. There was a point during the 2008 primary that Jim did indeed promote a vote for Romney over McCain. You are not mistaken.

For whatever it may be worth now.
