Philadelphia Speaking at the Workers Stand for America union rally in Philadelphia today, Democratic National Committee chair Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz wasted no time attacking newly announced Republican vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan.
Wasserman Schultz, addressing an estimated crowd of 40,000 union members, said that Ryan would "end Medicare as we know it," and made an extended attack on his budget plan.
Speaking to reporters after the event, she doubled down on her comments. "I think Mitt Romney with his selection of Paul Ryan has doubled down on his interest in shredding the safety net for our seniors ... and making sure that when it comes to their health that seniors would never again be able to afford quality health care."
Wasserman Schultz also criticized the Ryan budget for being "focused on giving more tax breaks to millionaires and billionaires."
Pressed by the THE WEEKLY STANDARD about whether or not reforming Medicarewhich has $38 trillion in long-term liabilitiesis possible without changing the program, Wasserman Schultz responded, "Barack Obama, through our Affordable Care Act, has already added eight years of solvency to Medicare and proven that we don't need to shred Medicare's safety net."
But earlier this year, Richard Foster, the independent actuary for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, said the Affordable Care Act would not save Medicareand that saving the program would require overhauling the program.

All the right enemies:
Check.
“end Medicare as we know it,”
About bloody time it will die in 2016 any way fix it now or it’s gone forever and take Obamacare with you.
The hideous Debbie Blabbermouth Schulz failed to tell the 40,000 dim bulbs that ObamaCare will take $500,000,000 from Medicare or the entire scheme will go belly-up. If Romney doesn’t get some very plain ads saying that on the air after Labor Day, he deserves to lose Florida.
Debbie Wasserman Test. Yeah, she’s the one I want out front working for me.
/s
If Debbie and the union bosses don’t like him he must be doing something right!
GO Ryan!
They also learnt quick to eschew socialism.
Fire all the same tired guns at once, you brillo headed beast. Your time is up!
Here it comes. Like clockwork.
Hope the American people don’t fall for it yet again. I have my doubts though.
Yep, Ladies and Gentlemen, Debbie Wasserman Shulz and her union thugs are gonna take out Paul Ryan, in exactly the same way they took out Governor, Scott Walker of Wisconsin in the recent walker recall election (Walker won his recall race with a comfortable 7% victory margin).
From the very same people who say "We can't open new energy sources because it would take ten years to bring them on-line." Why don't their heads explode from keeping all their lies, inconsistencies, and incoherence straight?
She already had this speech planned no matter who the candidate.
How did that work out for you in November 2010, losers?
LOL! THAT was a 'broadside'?
Seems more like a spit-wad to me.
The Dems are in full panic mode. Their problem is that they've screamed CRISIS! so long and so often that no one except the drooling liberals are listening anymore.
And it drives them crazy.....er.
Po ol Debbie Washerwoman Schulz doesn’t even realize that she is already toast.
You can attack all day dummy bunny but you are already a liability to you’re own party.
You can fight for the love of the party all day long but they have the knives out for you Debbie.
Give it up girl.
Shut the hell up and sit down.
Yo Debbie yall have gutted half a trillion dollars from medicaid
I got a robocall inviting me to this event a couple of days ago. I didn’t think it was a good idea to go as I figured I would have the crap beaten out of me by tolerant liberals as soon as I reflexively registered my disgust at the sight of Debbie’s greasy hair.
