I could get lost on that site. The panoramas aren’t bright, but the scenery is serene. Something no human has seen with their own eyes. Unreal to consider.

Looks like it uses surveying techniques that Lewis and Clark might have used - sight some navigable distance, make a beeline for it, and then look around by going in circles, and repeat...

Wow. You can zoom all the way in and it’s still in HD.
Is there a map or something so you trace its progress from its landing site?

Say, did anyone submit an environmental impact study before polluting Mars’ pristine environment?

Must not forget about Opportunity! Likely one of the only tings done by a government entity that actually worked for the money spent on it!
btw I’ve been wondering (and I saw it asked elsewhere) why doesn’t NASA ever put full motion 3D cameras on these rovers?
Can you imagine the money they could make back by recording a drive on Mars and putting it in theaters worldwide? They could make back 45% or more of the cost of the mission in ticket sales.

These are from December, not the new Curiosity......
“This is the latest panorama released by NASA July 2012. It was assembled from 817 images taken between Dec. 21, 2011, and May 8, 2012, while Opportunity was stationed on an outcrop informally named ‘Greeley Haven’. on a segment of the rim of ancient Endeavour Crater.”
Awesome, just the same..............

NBC - six hour delay at 3,500 miles. NASA, 14 minute delay at 150,000,000 million miles.

Thank you for posting this...incredible to be “standing” on Mars and looking all around!

This may be an incredibly stupid question but...are those *real* pictures from Mars of just some sort of computer animation? If they’re real then color me speechless!
