Mitt Romney made Iowa state fund-raising history Tuesday evening by bringing in between $1.8 and $2 million at an event in West Des Moines, a Romney aide confirmed.
"Because of your participation and your presence here tonight, this event, in this room at this time is the largest and most successful presidential fundraiser we have ever had in the history of the state of Iowa," David Oman, Romney's Iowa state chair, told a crowd of supporters.
Romney, whose campaign organization has out-raised President Barack Obama's for the past three months, spoke to roughly 280 top dollar donors at a country club in West Des Moines. Tickets for the event ranged from $2,000 to $50,000...
Romney also talked about his recently unveiled five-step economic recovery plan at the fund-raiser.
In attendance were some of Iowa's top politicos, including Rep. Steve King; Matt Strawn, former Iowa Republican Party chairman; Kyle Krause, owner of Kum & Go convenience store chain; as well as a large contingent of Iowa senators and representatives. Gov. Terry Branstad and Sen. Chuck Grassley, who were both honorary co-chairs of the event, were not in attendance due to schedule conflicts.
Obama will also travel to Iowa next week for a three-day tour, visiting seven cities between Monday and Wednesday.
Iowa launched Obama's presidential bid in 2008 after he won the state's first-in-the-nation caucus. Iowa later handed him a 10-point victory over Republican opponent Sen. John McCain in the general election.
The state is seen as a toss up between incumbent Obama and Romney, each polling at 44% in a NBC News/Marist poll conducted in May.

WE DON'T HAVE TIME to choose the kind of Conservative candidate we can ALL VOTE FOR NOW IN NOVEMBER. We need to vote for the guy who ISN'T a communist/socialist/marxist/revolutionary/illegal alien-sharia law loving thug NOW. ROMNEY is none of the above. oboma is ALL OF THE ABOVE. We choose the least of the two evils NOW, while we still have the freedom to vote. Get rid of oboma NOW, and deal with Romney and the Republican Party AFTERWARD, as Mark Levin has been saying on his radio program daily. Afterward, we can THEN choose a Conservative candidate we can all agree upon for the 2016 Presidential elections. We must not dilute the vote with the names of Conservatives who are not officially on the ballot...we must turn out in mega numbers and win in November...the piece of crap in the White House is going play this election like the old time leftist thug that he is...a product of the dirty Daley machine in Chicago, and a true follower of Saul Alinsky...ugly politics are a given in this election. Stop worrying about what Romney might or might not do...START WORRYING about what we know oboma WILL DO to us and this country if he wins in November.
oboma HATES THIS COUNTRY, AND IS A CARD-CARRYING SOCIALIST/MARXIST/ETC.
Romney DOES NOT HATE THIS COUNTRY. He's not a candidate many of us would ordinarily choose. But, HE IS THE CANDIDATE we must now vote for, if we want to keep the Constitution, our freedom and liberty, and we most certainly will have to keep watch on Romney and see to it he does what We the People demand. You and I and this country will NOT survive another four years of leftist oboma..please keep this in mind as you vote, and may God bless us all, keep our minds clear and courage intact.

Ask any emigrant from Poland, Russia, Lithuania, Cuba, China, Korea to this country....who is the bigger threat, oboma or Romney? The emigrants will tell you that when they escaped from their communist/marxist/socialist hell holes to the USA, they kissed the ground and looked forward to freedom and all that it holds. They NOW are very, very worried that what they escaped from is going to repeat itself if oboma wins in November. THESE PEOPLE know the difference between a “bullet to the brain” and a “bullet to the heart. These emigrants KNOW
that leftist oboma is death to freedom and liberty. Too many freedom fighters died in those communist/socialist/Marxist countries so that their countrymen and woman could be free. We must listen to them and their experiences, and do what we must in November, if we want a chance to survive to live another four years till the 2016 elections.

Republicans turned out a great boots on the ground crew in WI and the infrastructure is still there ready to be used for Romney.
As we all know it will be all about turn out and that is driven by enthusiasm and enthusiasm can be driven by all sorts of factors including love, hate, rage. Negative emotions will incite more action than will positive ones. This is why Obama is constantly creating turmoil and strife among his base. He knows he is losing the enthusiasm battle and must create as much hatred as he can. The problem for him is the more he incites his own base to turn out using hate tactics the more he turns off the Independents and fires up the Republicans.
It is as many have said in the past and I believe. You cannot win a campaign by only bashing your opponent and that is what Obama is attempting to do because he has nothing to run on.

I believe the Brits have it so pols cannor campaign until 6 months before the election. Not sure if this means seconfd party ads and fund raising is similarly restricted but it sure sounds like a good idea to me.

While a second term for Obama is certainly dangerous, there is something infinitely more dangerous to the republic: “conservatives” who are cowed by fear into abandoning all principle. That’s exactly how you create the moral and political climate that makes a Nazi Germany, or a Soviet Russia, possible.
Wake up.

Our principles are intact and we know we want a Conservative to be chosen and agreed upon, who CAN WIN the elections in...2016! Principled? You bet, but you must also know when you can apply your principles and when you must put a hold on them, until you can successfully win! It's in the TIMING! And it has nothing to do with the abandonment of our Conservative principles.
You're going to see a Nazi Germany or Soviet Russia under oboma if you do not vote FOR the candidate running against him NOW...once again, Romney's not our first choice, BUT he is the candidate, and we must be rid of oboma, in order to focus on a Conservative search for 2016. We CAN survive Romney for four more years...we can deal with him and the Republican Party until we can get the candidate we want. It is NOW all in the TIMING..it is TIME to rally together and vote in mega numbers for Romney, and if we do not, we will lose this country and our freedoms and liberty. Period.

Those who out of abject fear support what they claim to be a lesser evil have already succumbed to the greater evil.
You’ve already lost to Obama, even if you don’t know it yet.

Continue to make excuses for why you will not vote for Romney...if we have “already lost to oboma” as you say we have, then own up to the fact that it was due to people like yourself who made that possible...the 5% that Rasmussen recently stated that are declaring themselves interested in voting for other people. Own it, it is your choice.

I get the feeling that a lot of people are outright lying to pollsters. I would, if called............. I did, and very often. But I really like tweaking those 'exit pollster' on election day. Yep, Obama's going to win in a landslide all the way until they actually count the ballots. Then he'll be lucky if he comes out as well as Carter did against Reagan.

It’s insane to support a candidate that has spent his entire adult life fighting against all of the most important things one believes.

Please read my comments over again, and UNDERSTAND what we must do, and stop dwelling on what Romney has done previously...we need to use him NOW to forward ourselves to the 2016 elections. Put aside the past....it's PAST, and we must work and make decisions in the PRESENT to make sure we have a FUTURE four more years til 2016. Let it go, and work and think smart....the left knows how to work the angles and they're quick on their feet in doing so. We Conservatives need to learn how to do the same. Our goals are the Constitution, freedom and liberty. The left’s goals are oppression, loss of freedom and loss of liberty. We are two different groups, but we can lean to be smart and hard-hitting like the left when we need to be.
That is all I can tell you, my FRiend. It is up to you to make a decision. Good luck to us all.

You're deceiving yourself if you think you can forward conservatism by supporting a pro-choice democrat socialist like Romney. It's a complete illusion. It's a trap.
