In all fairness any survey regarding further government restrictions on citizen ownership of firearms, the question should include

considering the original intent of the Second Amendment thus guaranteeing the citizens the ability to combat a tyrannical government and to provide a means of protecting self, family and property, do you;

had the recent events involving firearms otherwise been associated with government killing its citizens like it did in Waco TX and Ruby Ridge ID, I believe any such survey would not provide the anti-gun answers the government is clearly seeking.

“The weapons’ menacing looks, coupled with the public’s confusion over fully automatic machine guns versus semi-automatic assault weapons—anything that looks like a machine gun is assumed to be a machine gun—can only increase the chance of public support for restrictions on these weapons.” — Josh Sugarmann

Half of all humans are of below average intelligence. This could account for their views on RKBA.

I own 4 AR pattern rifles. The newest addition is currently under construction.

If they ban them, then I become a felon. Plain and simple: I will not comply.

Put any description on a gun that uses both numbers AND letters, and the great unwashed thinks you are talking about some 50 caliber full-auto weapon used by Sly Stallone in Predator.

Show them a picture of a Ruger Mini-14. It’s a semi-auto magazine fed .223 rifle just like the AR-15. But it doesn’t look “scary” like an AR-15 apparently does to many people.

“Fully or semi auto is irrelevant. All weapons available to the military should be legal for the populace to own.”

Exactly! OOHHHH that gun looks mean!....So does FLOTUS & POTUS! Personally when ever I fired a selectable firearm, the selector switch was in the single rate of fire position, the only exception was the M-14 and the requirement to qualify using the multi-rate fire position. AR-15’s have no selector switch for multi-rate fire and has 2 positions safe and fire (1 shot for each trigger pull).

Many years ago the news cried gun control because a co-worker killed five people in a Saginaw MI drug store.
He used a claw hammer!

The bottom picture is sooooo sexy (love to handle & test fire). Sometimes I go to gun shops just to admire the “evil tactical” guns, sometimes I ask to handle different models to check their balance.

The mini 14 becomes an assault weapon when ammo runs dry and it is used as a club.

I think the mini-14 ranch rifle is my favorite rifle just because it starts as an “innocent hunting rifle” and with a few bucks can easily be turned into an “evil black rifle”.

More than seven in ten Americans are morons; so what?

Put a hand oiled walnut stock on the “AR-15” and these benighted survey respondents would whistle a very different tune - and that is, quite plainly, because they’re idiots and have no idea what the h*ll they’re talking about.

More than seven-in-ten respondents believe the AR-15 semi-automatic rifle should only be used by the police and other authorized persons.

They polled clueless people who think the AR-15s you can buy in a gun store are full auto. Ask the average person on the street about the National Firearms Act of 1934, the Gun Control Act of 1968, or the Hughes Amendment, and you will get nothing but blank stares.

The anti's aren't going to give up this time. They are going for the gold: registration, then confiscation. And I'll be damned if I go along like a sheep. And I am not alone. There is going to be a civil war.

Damn straight. Either like Henry Bowman (of "Unintended Consequences") or Phil Gordon (of "Absolved"), I will not comply. Molon labe, bastards.

It is too late. They have to find them first - and then take them.
