"Unexpected Swallowing of a Knife" -- that's a grabbier title than most ones you see in medical journals.
The short item, a clinical image in this week's New England Journal of Medicine, explains that a 30-year-old woman with a history of bulimia had been bragging to friends that she no longer had a gag reflex. She put the knife into her mouth and then laughed -- at which point she swallowed the knife.

A novellaette?
Why? However, it is a novel idea...;oþ
Or a “novella”
Me? I izz gonna publish posthumously : )
YES!
One of my brothers said he would write the story of his life three years before he dies.
I don’t know what will happen yet, except the character will drive a truck. Elen says her hero will leave home because his brothers are annoying.
I was young enough that my annoying brothers were long gone by the time I was in my teens.
” One of my brothers said he would write the story of his life three years before he dies.”
I’m going to write mine 3 years after.
Ah. Now I know what a ghost writer is. Thanks! ;o]
Someone has to be the youngest.
LOL!!
You are a Blessing, Dear FRiend!
Yes, but see, it wasn’t me! There was an unsuspecting soul who arrived after my grand entrance...
*E-vil laughter*
It has been 11 years since I found FR, and I am always amazed at the caliber of people here and the magnitude of miracles that seem to happen even with the slightest effort.
FreeRebublic is a wonderful place to be to read the news, share a thought, and derive comfort. There are not enough ways for me to say “thanks” to all who have been here for me, no matter what, and are now passing on the same love to a little girl who is battling brain cancer.
God will bless each and every one of you with those things you stand in need of as well as the righteous desires of your hearts. This I know. He is aware and is listening.
Thanks for being Emberlie’s Champions.

Someone said that writers should write about things they know.
That's why I write about things I make up. Who would know my made-up stuff better than me?
I have the joy of bringing watermelon, cantaloupes and tomatoes to a friend of 33 years who has generously shared her home-canned goods with us when we were travelling all over the country and needed good, home-made food! Yesterday, as we expressed our appreciation of her support for so many years, she waved her hand as if to say that her contribution hasn’t mattered. I told her how happy it made us to finally give something of value back to her in appreciation of her stewardship of the Creator’s blessings.
And soon, I’m going to bring her some lovely fried Italian donuts sprinkled w/powdered sugar! They have to be fresh, so timing is critical!
I know an old lady who swallowed a fly. I don’t know why?
Hmmmm.....
She needed better friends who would bring her fried Italian donuts.
And we think we have challenges?
Father in Heaven, please keep this precious child of yours in safety and love until she heals or goes home to you. Jesus said: “Suffer the little children to come unto me and forbid them not; for of such is the Kingdom of Heaven.” Lord, we need more angels like this one on Earth. Please, if you will, spare her life. We ask in Jesus’ Name. AMEN
Tom as LoLcat ...
I’ve seen that trick.
You open the door, and it pours down over your head.
