"Unexpected Swallowing of a Knife" -- that's a grabbier title than most ones you see in medical journals.
The short item, a clinical image in this week's New England Journal of Medicine, explains that a 30-year-old woman with a history of bulimia had been bragging to friends that she no longer had a gag reflex. She put the knife into her mouth and then laughed -- at which point she swallowed the knife.

If it rubs it’s cheeck on your hand, curling it’s lip so it’s teeth brush against you, you are to be congratulated; you have been officially “Friended.” Cat friends have extended handling privileges not granted to non-threats and neutrals, and the belly rub is among the most elevated of them.
We knowz catz. Just yesterday, a fat ol’ calico girl plopped at my feet and rolled over, exposing her belly for a nice rub. I was honored!

Ya know? It took me three looks at that post before I read “Wookie.” No brain today. It was bad from the post orifice on.
My knees are killing me and I’m fighting with Norton over an account they say is expired, but was renewed in March. And do you think I can get a real person on the phone? Two people in “live chat” told me they couldn’t help me. (This is me, simmering.)
The best thing is that Pat’s books are on the way. After I dropped the box in the bin, I did a facepalm: I didn’t put a message in the box for him. *GAH!*
Anyway, The Stig is singing again, after a week of dropping his fluffy stuff all over, so all is good.
I will check the mail, then take a shower and then fix some po’k chops made with Shake’n’Bake for Busdaddy. He is SO struggling with his diet and exercise programs. He is losing muscle and I keep telling him he needs to eat more protein. But I guess it’s a Guy Thing. He used to lift weights...maybe I should remind him of that...
Every day you live through is another day. I’m glad The Stig is finished molting, and we’ll look forward to the arrival of the books.
I’m still antsy about moving into a one-bedroom...I really want to rescue a cat, and I don’t have room here. Dangit.
Yep. I decided that since I was having so much rotten luck today, I may as well put the rest of the stuff off until morning. Not worth chewing through the straps today, for sure!
