There are some who tried to make the hypocricy argument in 2008 when Romney ran for President. I can't imagine Axelrod not trying it again.

Nah. I think Romney's smarter than that. So far,he's been staying on topic and talking about job losses and the economy. Axelrod can do what he likes...I really don't think it will matter.

That was 2008. We're in a different time and place now. A lot of damage has been done to the 0bama brand.

First of all, PAL, I’ve been here since October 1998, arriving days before the midterm elections of that year, so you have an odd definition of a “helluva lot longer” in the 10 months between us. I found your comments to be offensive and more appropriate for a DU or some leftist RINO fanboi website. For someone who has been here as long as you, you’d think they’d know the stance of actively opposing Socialists in whatever form they take. Your attacks were not only against principled Conservatives here, but were also a direct attack against JimRob.

Apparently you do indeed need reminding of what this website stands for, as you seem to have forgotten. Your principles may be malleable when it comes to whom you support, but don’t expect the rest of us to just sit here while you attack us for not blowing with the wind.

From the moment Willard didn’t get the VP slot, he sought to willfully undermine the ticket by sending out his paid operatives and surrogates and other flunkies to destroy Sarah Palin, and hence the entire ticket. If he can’t have the job as a Republican, no other Republican can, either. Vile backstabbing weasel he is.

Right, like the McCain people trashing Palin and leaking juicy tidbits about her to their butt buddies in the press did not have anything to do with the campaign failing. I think McCain and his people did a very good job of undermining their own campaign without any outside help.

Some of those so-called McCain people were Willard flunkies.

Yes, because it makes oh-so-much sense to undermine your own candidacy. Nope, Willard's fingerprints are all over it and the scars from his backstabbing covering Gov. Palin. So, again, if you don't have a problem with disgusting individuals like Willard, hey...

All Conservatives should be sickened that such a disgusting reprobate as Willard is has been shoved down the throats of GOP voters. Willard is pure Democrat, just like Zero.

I am actually less disgusted by Romney than I was by McCain. At least Romeny will try to win it and probably will not endorse Obama like McCain did. You wrote that McCain would not sabotage his own campaign? I guess you were not paying attention because he personally undermined his campaign in my view.

As I told you above, Willard had his operatives in McCain’s camp undermining Sarah Palin after she was chosen for VP. Willard absolutely needed the ticket to crash in order to be able to run this time around, and as such, his actions were an “endorsement” of Zero in ‘08. I have my own problems with McCain, and he also should never have been nominated, but Willard is infinitely worse. The only people Willard himself ever really attacks are Conservatives. He was raised a left-winger and is more comfortable with left-wingers.

I think you are mistaken. I think that McCain is quite possibly the most stupid politician in existence today and that he proved more than capable of undermining his own campaign. McCain did so much dim-witted stuff during that campaign that Romney would have been a fool to waste a cent on it. I think it is pretty paranoid to blame “Romney operatives” for the brainless actions of McCain himself. I don’t generally believe in conspiracies when common stupidity can explain a result.

Put it this way, you’re not entirely wrong on McCain. McCain also has no loyalty to the GOP (or to the point, Conservatism). He gave serious thought to leaving the party in 2004 to be Kerry’s running mate. His first choice for VP in ‘08 was Joe Lieberman (which was considered so audacious that even the leftists in the party establishment told him that was simply out of the question). As it was, the only good thing he ultimately did was choosing Palin and bypassing Willard (I’ll add, had he not chosen Palin, I would not have bothered to vote for McCain in the general).

However, I’m not wrong about Willard and how he operates. He always has his flunkies and disciples doing dirty work for him. These are folks without an iota of conscience. Willard loathes Palin for getting in his way. The question folks are asking now, especially since the primary race was fixed, is whether Willard is actually trying to win or if he is going to play the loser again (as McCain ultimately did). The fact that there are enough intelligent and informed people are wondering about the latter is yet another in a long line of reasons he needs to be removed from the ballot. If anyone can lose this race, it’s Willard (and even if he does win the general, Conservatives won’t win).

Romney was my least favorite of all the republicans candidates this time around. I believe that his people probably put up a couple of the candidates with zero chance to win to split the conservative vote and allow him to win. True to form, conservatives could not agree on a candidate and it appears that Romney is it for the party. I’d be mad at Romney if it weren’t for the fact that conservatives are so easy to manipulate that I can’t fault him for doing so. I will vote for Romney over Obama and I will likely be happier doing it than I was voting for McCain. I am curious to see how many of the “conservatives” running this time end up in the Romney administration if he wins. I think that will be a good indicator of who was working with him.

The past two Presidential primaries have been a thorough joke and demonstrated a completely broken system. I’ve favored changing the entire process to having the grassroots draft candidates through a pre-convention rather than allowing the unacceptable or unqualified prima donnas to step forward. The fact that a handful of states at the beginning can dictate how it goes is outrageous and disenfranchises millions of Republican voters.
