Should someone be fired from their job and threatened with violence, torture, even death because they have an opinion different than yours? Of course not. And yet, that is what Adam M. Smith of Arizona says happened to him.

Adam Smith’s life has been turned upside-down in the 36 hours that followed his posting the video of his protest at Chick-fil-A, which involved letting a young, female employee at the drive-thru know what he thinks about the company.

Now I wonder about why he left his last 2 jobs. Was it voluntary, or did he do something stupid to get himself fired.

He is just trying to smear everyone who didn't agree with him and their protests with association with white supremacists. He also says he went back to the store and tried to meet with Rachel and that she wouldn't talk to him. Why should she? He could easily be a stalker. What an idiot waste of skin. He was a corporate official who should have thought just a little ahead about the potential consequences of his actions.

Kudos to his former employer for firing him. He’s not the type of person they should want to represent their business, and they recognized it.

I really think that was the deciding factor. That and the fact his association with them became public knowledge. It was too easy to look up. They couldn't afford to be associated with him. It made them look bad as well.

I don’t think Chick-Fil-A corporate management had anything do with this, either.

If I understood correctly, Mr. Cathy, as a private individual, with his own money, supports traditional marriage and families and groups with the same belief.

And this clown gave a CFA hourly worker an earful because of this...

Exactly. But of course liberals are all cowards. They don't have the courage to speak face-to-face with those who run the corporations so they bully a front line worker who has absolutely no control whatsoever over corporate policy.

It's easy to protest in America. I want to see homosexuals go over to Iraq or Afghanistan, stand bravely and resolutely in the streets and vocally protest against Islam for its stance on homosexuality, but it will never happen. They are too cowardly to leave the protection of our borders.

Same thing with the NAGs. Always lamenting how horrible American men are towards women ("That vulture verbally assaulted her by saying she looked pretty in that dress!") but they don't have the guts to go over and protest against government endorsed violence (stoning, honor killings, etc.) against women in Islamic countries.

Such behavior only confirms my belief that libs don't really care about other people because they don't have the spine to actually risk life and limb to stand up for someone else and protect them. All they want is for people to think that they care.

Cowards, they are. Pants pissing little punk ass cowards.

I guess the moral of the story is that if you are going to do something stupid, film it and then post it to YouTube, you are probably better off doing something of the “Hey Bubba, hold my beer and watch this...” variety.

Then you only have to worry about the dumb stunt killing you, not about having your whole life and two vocations ruined as this guy has done. So much time left to ponder, “What was I thinking.....?”

It would not surprise me in the least if this clown had received a death threat or two. Given the thoughtless nature of his acts, and the worldwide publicity surrounding the whole episode, I'd be more surprised if he had received no threats at all.

Notwithstanding the existence or absence of any death threats, the possibility thereof should have been the first thing he thought about when he decided to embark on this ill-considered course of action.

Adam Smith: "I think I'll go down to Chick-Fil-A, order a cup of ice water, then publicly berate the poor worker at the window about something over which she has absolutely no control. I'll film the whole sorry episode, whether the clerk wants me to do so or not, then post it to YouTube, and wait for the accolades to roll in. Yeah...that seems like a solid plan."

Except he didn't stop to think what could happen after hitting the "Send" button. It's crystal clear that his thought process stopped at the point where he posted the spectacle to the Internet, whereas people who aren't using raw sewage for brains would usually stop and say to themselves, "Hey...wait a minute. Maybe most people are going to see the poor food service worker as a victim, and me as her tormentor. Then there could be some blowback...maybe somebody would find my personal information and use it to harass me because I made a giant buttmunch out of myself."

The fact that Mr. Smith failed to do this, more than anything else, is the reason his employer was forced to cut his cord. He exhibited a level of extraordinarily poor judgment that his employer found to be incompatible with the profile they believe their chief financial officer should have.

The employee may be able to bring suit against him, now that his identity is public. But that’s about as much as we can expect. It would be apropos should he have difficulty finding employment, but I doubt that will happen. There are companies out there that will hire him. No, I think we’re at about the end of the disciplinary part of this story.
