In 2004, as Governor of Massachusetts, Mitt Romney banned the sale of assault weapons like the one used to spray 50-60 bullets a minute in the Colorado massacre.

On FOX News, Romney explained his position as follows:

"I believe the people should have the right to bear arms, but I don’t believe that we have to have assault weapons as part of our personal arsenal."

That seems like a perfectly reasonable position, no?

(Seriously: Do we really need to be able to buy and own these things? Is that really in the best interests of our society? Really?)

Unfortunately, in the intervening years, Romney has flip-flopped and now supports the sale of assault weapons like the one used in the Colorado massacre.

But the families of those who were shot and killed in the theater can presumably take some comfort from the fact that Romney was against these guns before he was for them.

I try to arrange my affairs so as to minimize the damage that liberals like Obama and Romney can visit upon me. I think it's very important to avoid becoming dependent on the government for personal happiness and well-being. No liberal president will be directing my investments or preparing my meals.

I don’t know that Romney is anti-black, but he is more susceptible to the charge than any other republican running this year.

There are certain facts that can be inspected:

1. The MORMON religious organization has been quite racist in the past.
2. Mitt Romney chose to stay associated with that organization after he became an adult and accountable for his identification with certain groups.
3. He was about 32 when his GOD changed his mind about BLACKS.
4. I've yet to see any statements from Mitt that discuss the previous stand of the LDS church or the current stand that it takes.

In conclusion let us summarize this grand key, these “Fourteen Fundamentals in Following the Prophet”, for our salvation depends on them.

1. The prophet is the only man who speaks for the Lord in everything.

8. The prophet is not limited by men’s reasoning.
9. The prophet can receive revelation on any matter, temporal or spiritual.
10. The prophet may advise on civic matters.
11. The two groups who have the greatest difficulty in following the prophet are the proud who are learned and the proud who are rich.
12. The prophet will not necessarily be popular with the world or the worldly.
13. The prophet and his counselors make up the First Presidency—the highest quorum in the Church.
14. The prophet and the presidency—the living prophet and the First Presidency—follow them and be blessed—reject them and suffer.

I testify that these fourteen fundamentals in following the living prophet are true. If we want to know how well we stand with the Lord then let us ask ourselves how well we stand with His mortal captain—how close do our lives harmonize with the Lord’s anointed—the living Prophet—President of the Church, and with the Quorum of the First Presidency.
