In 2004, as Governor of Massachusetts, Mitt Romney banned the sale of assault weapons like the one used to spray 50-60 bullets a minute in the Colorado massacre.
On FOX News, Romney explained his position as follows:
"I believe the people should have the right to bear arms, but I dont believe that we have to have assault weapons as part of our personal arsenal."
That seems like a perfectly reasonable position, no?
(Seriously: Do we really need to be able to buy and own these things? Is that really in the best interests of our society? Really?)
Unfortunately, in the intervening years, Romney has flip-flopped and now supports the sale of assault weapons like the one used in the Colorado massacre.
But the families of those who were shot and killed in the theater can presumably take some comfort from the fact that Romney was against these guns before he was for them.

As a member of Mormon Royalty since his family immigrated to America in 1842 to personally serve Joseph Smith, the Romney's have never mixed in the world outside of the pure white Mormon life except for what was necessary for business at the highest, whitest level, or politics at the highest, whitest level, or education at the highest, whitest level,Priest, missionary, and Bishop, Mitt Romney, himself a son of a Bishop would have been teaching that blacks were inferior to whites for many years before the 1978 revelation from God, that blacks were now OK.
Whatever racism Mitt Romney was teaching as a religious leader would only be known within his religious cult, and they are known for being secretive.
Yes, many here are more anti-Romney than anti-Obama.
Obama talks of limiting some gun use in wake of Colorado massacre
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/2910856/posts
President Obama has added his voice to the push for limits on Americans’ gun use in the wake the massacre last week at a movie theater in Colorado.
Obama, speaking Wednesday evening to the National Urban League, affirmed his belief in Americans’ right to own guns, but he singled out assault rifles as better suited for soldiers than civilians.
“I believe the Second Amendment guarantees an individual the right to bear arms,” Obama said. “But I also believe that a lot of gun owners would agree that AK-47s belong in the hands of soldiers, not on the streets of our cities.”
Also:
“Obama said he believes in the Second Amendment’s protection of gun rights and that hunting and shooting are part of a “cherished national tradition.”

After Bush 1 the Dems Ran Bill Clinton.
Then Al Gore
Then John Kerry
Then Barack Obama
Each more left and marxist than the one before
The GOP countered with Bob Dole
Then GWB
Then John McCain
Now Mitt Romney.
Likewise, each more liberal than the one before.
The trend unarguably shows both parties going further to the left with each passing election. The trend of GOP is putting up more libs is reinforced by the base voting for what they give us under threat of the crazy man the Dems run that year.
Now please explain in great detail when the miracle will happen. Please show us factually based evidence that the GOP can be saved when the trend is not your friend.
And most importantly, explain after all this time, with the FACTS above, why you ‘feel’ that ‘next time’ will abe one iota different.
The trend shows the GOP will running an open marxist in 2016. So why should I vote for a man with less conservative legislation to his record than Bill Clinton and expect ‘good things’ to happen?
And you believe him? huh go figure
Sadly the choice is very simple . It is between a Communist Party endorsed , Marxist mentored,Radical Halfrican & a Mormon milquetoast Zipless F*ck .
That’s it like or not. You can whine & stomp your feet for Dr. Ron Paul all you want it won’t achieve anything.
We must work with what we have as well as agitate4 & light brush fires in the minds of our countrymen that we can & must do better.
If we fail at this slavery will stalk this nation once again only this time every man, woman & child will be the property of the state.
mea culpa ‘primary’ ===> GOP convention
Bishop Willard is an anti-black racist...
No, it is one vote for the pro-liberty platform.
Define liberty however you want. I define it as not being in a position of having my government tell me what I can or cannot do or think.
ROTFLMAO! Virgil Goode? Talk about phony baloney! Goode was an aggressive supporter of the Equal Rights Amendment - yep the very same Gloria Steinem/N.O.W. ERA of the crazy 1970s. And Goode also supported Douglas Wilder for VA Governor. Now we are supposed to buy that he is a sudden "conservative" because he talks tough on immigration? Bullcrap. And you attack Romney for flip-flopping? Surely you can't be such a fool. This is all academic of course. Even Jim Rob agrees - a vote for A.B.M. - Anyone But Mittens - is a vote for the Marxist Usurper. It is just that simple, but I don't expect to convert you.
If Robert Byrd wasn’t held responsible for being a former KKK member, I’m not going to hold Romney responsible for his religion’s past. Many Christian denominations have what would be considered “racist” pasts. As for what may be done in secret, absence of evidence isn’t proof of guilt.
Look, I vehemently disagree with Romney on a majority of things, but he gives that one tiny corner to hang my hat on. Obama gives none, and those are the only two choices. I want Obama gone, he can’t even be worked with. Maybe Romney can’t either, but I don’t KNOW that. I KNOW it about Obama. It will be a lot easier to fight Romney if necessary.
Please reread my Obama quote:
“Obama said he believes in the Second Amendment’s protection of gun rights and that hunting and shooting are part of a “cherished national tradition.”
IMO he makes is clear that he thinks that the purpose of the 2nd Amendment is ONLY for hunting and target practice. He, the “constitutional scholar” clearly doesn’t understand the Constitution and the meaning and intent of the 2nd Amendment.
Like those of us who are Conservatives, the Democrats are waiting till August...
After tampa, it will depend on who then has the GOP nomination...
Dont think for one moment that the Obama Team are lacking in a large arsenal of truths about your boy Willie...
They dont need to make up anything...
Hes got decades of ugly history the GOPe wont be able to control...
The Republicans refused to vett Willard...
The Democrats will pick up that slack..
Yes, and I find that strange. Romney MAY be everything they say he is. I KNOW what Obama is, and that he, Holder, and the rest of his thug gang have NO shame and have too many supporters who don’t care.
“(Seriously: Do we really need to be able to buy and own these things? Is that really in the best interests of our society? Really?)”
Seriously dude, like, yes. Like, you know, go look up the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, then compare and contrast that to Auschwitz. Really.
Man! My head hurts!
You are voting for the pro-abortion candidate running on a pro-abortion platform, that is the choice you are making and proudly announcing.
I will vote for Romney. Period. It doesn't make me happy to say it. It would help reduce my vomiting if he named Allen West as VP. I reluctantly pulled the lever for McCain only because he picked Palin. Since McCain is 100 times worse than Romney, I can't very well get picky now, can I? I couldn't stand G.W. Bush in 2000 and STILL can't stand him, but I voted for him twice. The president is not everything. We need a solid conservative Congress, which is why I send cash to Ted Cruz and others. that is the only way we stopped Bush's 1996 amnesty push was with conservatives in Congress and activist rage.
I recall how hard you worked to trash Meg Whitman non stop and
helped Jerry Brown get elected on this website in 2010 .
Now your doing Axelrod and Barry ‘s work here .
How obvious !
Barring an act of God I dont see history repeating it self.
