I have really enjoyed many other opening ceremonies, but this one is just HORRIBLE!

LOL! This was definitely one of the dreariest and most PC ever; all about the “working stiff” and the government, although everybody in England seems to be on the dole now and the government has become a monster that eats their lives. I thought the healthcare skit was particularly gross.
On top of that, it would have been totally invisible to people watching from any distance. No color, no blocking. But maybe that as a good thing...
During the showing of the countries a group of four was introduced as the “Independent Olympic Athletes”. Does anyone know anything about them?
Complete and utter rubbish and self-serving. They should be hanging their heads in shame, but you know they are just so damn proud of this!

Considering that all opening ceremonies are so boring they literally suck the life out of most intelligent viewers, I'm amazed anyone on this forum who has it on their TV is still awake. Are you guys typing in your sleep, or are you just dreaming that you are typing on Free Republic?

IN all honesty, the only good part for me thusfar, was the part when the deaf children were singing for their queen.......the rest of this is just schlock that is not made any better even if ya bring out the GOOD Scotch!

THe “Independent Olympic Athletes” were from countries that are ‘having problems’, like South Sudan. I remember that (i think) Bosnia-Herzegovenia competed under the Olympic flag, but I can’t remember the year.

I’ve seen Super Bowl halftime shows that were FAR SUPERIOR to these Opening Ceremonies...
Picture it...ONSLOW doing “color commentary” with Matt Lauer.......LMAO now THAT’s entertainment!!!!!!! ;-)
