LONDON – A gay man carrying the Olympic torch today on the streets of London was cheered by spectators when he kissed his boyfriend during his stretch of carrying the device that will light the giant Olympic Flame tonight during the opening ceremony that will be telecast by NBC in the U.S. on a tape-delay basis.

Chris Basiurski, who chairs Gay Football Supporters Network in Great Britain, was one of thousands of Britons who were chosen to carry the Olympic torch over the past 70 days as part of the Olympic Torch relay that leads up to the lighting ceremony.

Basiurski told the spectators that he and his partner, James, would be getting married next year.

This was an international Olympic tradition that should have been free from political and personal displays. That this activist will suffer no repercussions from the Olympic committee is despicable.

It is your right to be homophilic, but don’t expect the world to revolve around your “sexual” preference bs.

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><

LOL. I don’t expect the world to revolve around anything of mine.

Married once and still, 20+ years, 3 kids, 2 dogs, grandad within a week or so, trust me, if there’s one thing I know painfully well, it’s that it’s not all about me.

I appreciate that you have granted me the right to be homophilic, so I will return the favor, and grant you the right to be homophobic. See how easy that was?

We propose to believe in civil liberty and would do well to act accordingly.

I suggest you Google "folsom street parade"

Me thinks you'll have a change of heart ;)

To be clear, you remarked about Iran and Saudi, and in doing so, you said he was endorsing their anti-homo laws. . .but thing is, in those countries homos are beheaded.

PLease, feel free to tout Iran’s stance on homosexual behavior. I’m glad that, in this way, Iran tracks with your sensibilities.”

Again, Iran beheads homos. He is not calling for that and therefore does not “track” with them.

I did look at it (it's San Francisco!) and I really haven't had a change of heart. Of course, I live near New Orleans where we have Mardi Gras and the "gay beauty contest" every season.

As far as I am concerned, every community/municipality should have the right to set their own standards of decency and they should apply to everyone equally. After all no one makes you go to Fulton Street or Mardi Gras, it's your choice!

When it comes right down to it, I would far rather live in a community that provides equal protection to everyone under the law than to live in a community where you can be beaten or executed because of your sexual orientation or whatever as some here have proposed. Given such a choice, I would choose San Francisco in a heartbeat, but preferably not Fulton Street!

Can't say I disagree with you there, people have a right to either stay or move if they don't like their particular community.

Having said that, this "kiss" was not done in a local Community it was done on a world stage, thereby shoving their perversion down our throats.

IMO it should have been met with boos and scorn, not applause and cheers. I must say though, I haven't seen video of this so the apllause and cheers could very well be an exageration.

Until we change the heart of our peoples, if it's not too late, it's only going to get worse.

Conservatives will never win on this one.

People are starting to realize that one person's "perversion" is another person's normal. How does that so-called perversion hurt ME? True, it does make me a little squeamish and I don't really like seeing it, but is it REALLY hurting anybody? I know and respect that you disagree but, personally, I think it does not.

If the guy would have kissed a girlfriend instead, would it have been ok? Of course, but why?

It must be true, I simply don't take the world seriously enough.

You certainly don't take the homosexual agenda seriously enough either.

Beacuse it's NORMAL that's why.

Conservatives will never win on this one.

Not with supposed "Coservatives" like you on our side, I'll agree to that.

Have a gay evening.
