I cant find a transcript but it sure sounds from the article like hes trying to get them to forfeit their right to support anti-SSM groups in return for a permit. In other words, they can keep their freedom of speech, sort of, as long as they cede their freedom of association. Thats Chicago values, I guess.
"Chicago Alderman Joe Moreno says the door isnt entirely closed on a new Chick-fil-A restaurant opening in his 1st ward.
Moreno told WBEZ that the owners seeking to build the restaurant have said they wont support any groups with a political agenda, including those with an anti-gay marriage stance.
Moreno says if he gets an explicit guarantee from the franchise owner he will consider granting zoning rights to a new Chick-fil-A in Logan Square.
If theyre serious about that, and theyre willing to put that in writing and theyre willing to adopt that. I think those are the grounds where we can move forward, Moreno said.
Chick-fil-A owners can build if they promise not to lay claim their First Amendment rights.
Talk about a 1st Ammendment high fast ball over the plate - any decent hitter can knock this one out of the park.
Fixed it.
Amazons Founder Pledges $2.5 Million in Support of Same-Sex Marriage
Jeff Bezos, the billionaire founder of Amazon.com, and his wife, MacKenzie, have agreed to donate $2.5 million to help pass a same-sex marriage referendum in Washington State, instantly becoming among the largest financial backers of gay marriage rights in the country.
You’re so right. But no one on Fox has made the connection. And, judging from Rahm’s spokesman this morning, the mere approval to build may not mean city-cooperation thereafter. It is, after all, Chicago. Forms, plans, approval stamps, building inspectors can get, well, lost.
Another question here though: Will the City of Chicago be paying for any part of Farrakhan’s army?
So if Amazon.com wanted to build a warehouse in this area, because they are supporting gay “marriage” activists, they cant build there?
A big WTF!
How about telling unions that they can organize if they are apolitical?
It’s none of their business in either case.
I hear Aug 1st is Chick fil A day. I sure hope they have a lot of food. We are going today to show our support.
Only if the Chicago area Targets and JC Penney’s (and any and all others) forgo donating to homo activist groups. (and put it in writing!)
Apparently, Al Capone’s mob never really went away. They simply went into politics. Legal injunctions have replaced the Tommy gun as the weapon of choice.
I order a lot of stuff via Amazon. Is there a good alternative?
They shouldn’t put anything in writing or say anything or make any promises that other prospective businesses aren’t asked to do. Just say we’ll see you in court.
I’m not waiting until Weds.
I’m beginning to think this may be the “Jump the Shark” moment for the LGBTQ movement.
Pray for America
I don't want to see a christian business let the thugs of Chicago tell them what to do..They don't need the money..
” don’t want to see a christian business let the thugs of Chicago tell them what to do..They don’t need the money.”
Couldn’t agree more.
You can try Ebay or, better yet, google what you’re looking for and buy it from a small business.
I bought a new kindle this week which is made by Amazon. I had to bargain with myself - bought it from Best Buy so Amazon only received wholesale price.
