I wasn’t inclined to make a big deal out of Ride’s sexual orientation. It’s none of my business. Damn it, if others are going to make hay of it, then it should be okay if I address it too.
Evidently Ride wasn’t the first woman in space. She may or may not have been the first homosexual in space, I don’t know about that.
So who was the first woman in space, since they can’t resist claiming she was not one of the vast majority of women.
They are proud first about her being a homosexual. Why should I argue with that? She wasn’t a woman. She was a homosexual. Let them have it their way.
I believe the first woman in space was a Russian cosmonaut, many years prior to Ride. Her sexual orientation is unknown.
