INDIANAPOLIS -- Penn State football was all but leveled Monday by an NCAA ruling that wiped away 14 years of coach Joe Paterno's victories and imposed a mountain of fines and penalties, crippling a program whose pedophile assistant coach spent uncounted years molesting children, sometimes on university property. The sanctions by the governing body of college sports, which capped eight months of turmoil on the central Pennsylvania campus, stopped short of delivering the "death penalty" of shutting down the sport. But the NCAA hit Penn State with $60 million in fines, ordered it out of the postseason for four years, and will cap scholarships at 20 below the normal limit for four years. The school also will be on probation for five years.

good for you and Thanks for what you are doing. Maybe a little PR on this topic via some of the “college bubble” folks like instapundit would help to spread the concept and get PSU to take a look - cause their grads are screaming!!! Yea for you.
Couldn’t agree more. If this story doesn’t show how evil homosexuality is, I don’t know what does.
Aside from the suspensions, loss of scholarships, fines, etc. not being enough to compensate the children victims of Sandusky, there is something further that can be done for the other innocent victims in the football program.
PSU should be required to give the full unrealized value of the scholarships of their players toward scholarships at other institutions and the players should be free to go whethever they are wanted - funded by PSU. Those scholarships should be exempt from the maximum number of scholarships the other teams are allowed to offer.
The players havve been hosed big time
I agree with you. See my post 38.
I hope you’re right.
Those kids Sandusky abused were hosed much worse. The innocent always pay for others' sins.
Imposing huge fines on a State University means they will just be coming after me, the taxpayer, to make up the difference.
Penn State commissioned the Freeh Report, and agreed to go along with whatever its' findings were. That fact, probably saved Penn State from even worse penalties.
Rock on, brother!
Do you know what Penn State’s endowment is? And I guarantee, any politician that votes to raise taxes for Penn State will be thrown out on his butt faster than you can say, “Jack Robinson.”
You make my point. There are a lot of harmed parties from this ruling besides the institution of Penn State.
I think you’re right about the lawsuits. I’m certain this isn’t over by a longshot.
“What NCAA bylaws cover sex crimes? Why is the NCAA even involved? Again the most useless organization in existence, the NCAA, is punishing folks that had nothing to do with the scandal.”
So it seems to me as well. Let the judicial system do it’s thing and butt out.
I have always been curious. When the NCAA eliminates all the victories for all those years it is as though they did not exist. If any of those victories would mean a difference for other teams would the record be changed to accomodate those differences?
“What do you think Alabama would be today, if they didnt have The Bears Legacy to sell?”
As a Bama fan I agree with you. What a nightmare Penn State. I still cannot understand why they covered this up. This makes the SMU scandal look trivial.
I hope you’re right, but with the NCAA, money walks and BS walks.
Agreed, Joe is dead so he doesn’t care. I agree with all the panalties except the NCAA should be forced to give the money towards the victims, and how does one pretend that victories that occured didn’t? I could see Grambling being in favor of this PC move, but the players didn’t rape anybody. Does anyone ever think Penn State will ever outlive this scandal? SMU has not...Hell blow Joes statue up on the 50 yard line for all I care, but players should be allowed to transfer anywhere that accepts them.
