UNIVERSITY PARK Penn States 2013 recruiting class lost one of its commitments on Saturday.
New Jersey defensive lineman Greg Webb withdrew his oral pledge to attend Penn State in favor of North Carolina.
UNC recruiting sites reported Friday that Webb had reopened his recruiting and planned to visit the Tar Heels Chapel Hill campus on Saturday.
Webb a 6-foot-1, 295-pound defensive tackle at Timber Creek High School in Sicklerville, N.J. indeed visited UNC and committed when his high school teammate Dajuan Drennon also committed to the Tar Heels.
A four-star recruit by Rivals.com standards, Webb was one of three defensive line recruits in the 2013 Penn State class.
His change of heart leaves the Nittany Lions with defensive ends Garrett Sickels and Curtis Cothran, four- and three-star recruits, respectively.
Webb had visited Penn State in March before committing to the Nittany Lions on April 5.
Good news. Good example. Other recruits should follow in the de-commitment process.
(Now we’ll see which Penn State fans have the moral courage to start “de-committing” on their season tickets...and begin making a statement that deifiying sports and personality cults and public-relations-at-all-expense have risen to the idolatry stage...and some distancing/separation needs to begin)
The State Penn needs to fire former preezzzy Spanier.
decomm$t.
“Michael Mann, a professor in Penn State’s meteorology department and director of the university’s Earth Systems Science Center, claims that Ball defamed him when he said that Mann “should be in the State Pen, not Penn State,” for his alleged role in the so-called climate gate email tussle. “
Wow so he switched from PSU and all their problems to the biggest purveyors of academic fraud in the NCAA....
Haven’t read the article yet, but it occurred to me that other victims of this scandal are players who applied to Penn, and got football scholarships. There ain’t gonna be no football there for a while. Sure,,,, they can apply to other colleges, but it’s almost August, those scholarships are already filled out. They should be able to apply to other schools, and,,,,, PENN STATE SHOULD PAY FOR THEIR FOOTBALL SCHOLARSHIPS!
“6-foot-1,295-pound defensive tackle”
That’s a big boy.

Like rats deserting a sinking ship except I don’t really think of them as rats.
Survivors is more like it.
It is a shame to see what is happening at PSU. Never a big fan but certainly respectful of the athletes that played there. Paterno is no longer a respected name and this should be quite a wake-up to all NCAA programs nationwide.

Better still, they should all be calling Wyotech to see if they could get in there where there “ real, long-term talents” could be put to use! Let’s put and end to taxpayer-subsitized “training” for football players for the NFL! They have the money, they need to open their own training facilities for these high school dropouts who take up space that should be going to kids with an intellect, not a big neck!
Well, PAPA Joe's cover up of Jerry Sandusky's actions allowed additional young boys to be served up to Jerry's sexual abuse... so chew on that, Paterno family--
I doubt they will get the death penalty but something bad anyway.
I would sort of like to see them have all scholarships taken away and all players allowed to transfer. Make them a division III school for 5 years.
After the likes of Temple beats them by 50+ points, they’ll wish for the Death Penalty.
I suppose you could put forth a lame attempt to claim someplace else is as bad as the Kinsey Institute at Indiana State, but you know in your heart that on a Sandusky related thread any attempt would not only fail miserably, it would draw lots of bad puns.
He committed in April, way after all this stuff came out.
