Savannah Dietrich, 17, could be locked up on contempt-of-court charges for tweeting the names of her attackers after they allegedly got a sweetheart plea bargain, according to a published report. * * * The judge in the case had further protected the sex fiends by placing a gag order that barred Dietrich from talking about what happened to her.

It's a shame that in America a judge can seemingly undermine this young woman's First Amendment rights by prohibiting from speaking about what she alleges happened to her.

“placing a gag order”

This is the first time that “gag order” seems to fit. It makes me wan to gag that pervs are getting away with crime.

I’m glad you posted this story. I believe the gag order may have been placed because they were juveniles, I’m not sure. I’m not sure if there is a law in place to keep juveniles names from being public.

But, the charges were brought down from felonies to misdemeanors. She was shamed by her photos being publicized, now the boys want to be kept secret. If I am angry about this, I can’t imagine what she feels.

The whole situation regarding justice is lacking terribly. I am really proud of this girl. She needs to fight back and have that gag order pulled. She needs to feel free to speak about this crime and the lack of justice by giving these boys a slap on the wrist. The defending attorney should be ashamed by bringing these charges up against her. Honestly, I don’t know how some of these attorney’s live with themselves.

Not to make any excuses for the perps in this case, but I would hope it will give women and young girls some food for thought about the wisdom of heavy drinking with people they don’t absolutely trust.

If the perps hadn’t been stupid enough to record and share their crime, they’d probably never have been convicted.

Exactly, and she was not even aware of the deal until court day.

Does the registry apply to juveniles? I’m just curious and trying to make sense why they would put a gag order on this case.

Jail the Judge for aiding and abetting.

Exactly! I’m sure there are more than a few other examples that can be used in a RICO suit too. These judges don’t do these things as a once off, after awhile they develop definite patterns of judicial behavior.

How is it possibly legal to jail someone for speaking about being sexually assaulted?

Apparently, the judge put a gag order on all of them. I’m trying to figure out why. Is this standard procedure for juvenile cases was he doing favors? I hope she gets to the bottom of this. And even if if it standard, she should be allowed to talk about this. This is not defamation if it is fact, period.

How can a gag order be placed on a victim? I feel certain she must speak with doctors and therapists to deal with the crimes committed against her. She received no monetary reimbursement, but will probably feel compromised for the rest of her life.

Why would a judge defend an act that carries such a long recovery time. Maybe they judge is sympathetic to sexual molesters? Could it be he has something to hide?

The ‘judge’ is a flaming feminist. She used to be a social worker (that’s how one knows she’s a flaming feminist). To her, getting raped at a party after a few beers is probably some of her fondest memories from college.

But not all people respond that way and once a recording was discovered all her rules of a good time should have changed, and she should have thrown the book at these guys.

The damage this ash hole judge has done to people’s faith in the system is so enormous he should be kicked off the bench for even threatening the victim. What happens now? Does the family of the victim go and beat up the girl’s attackers? Is THAT what this moron judge wants to see? Lawyers! They are like termites destroying our country.

“Thought that sex offenders` names were already public information by law-United States Department of Justice...”

With this babe-judge, who says they’re even classified as sex offenders?
