Tomorrow morning at 9:00 a.m. in Indianapolis, the NCAA will reportedly announce how it intends to punish Penn State following its handling of the the Jerry Sandusky scandal. The penalties have been termed "unprecedented" and will be leveled at both the school itself and the football program.
According to Armen Keteyian, a source had "never seen anything like it."
Things are happening quickly, now.
If you were a student in that physics department and graduated a year later, and your resume found its way to my desk, I'd never hire you. I'd have nothing against you personally, but when this kind of sh!t goes on in an organization it's safer to just assume that the entire place is thoroughly discredited.

As for Reggie, he received a (used) car, rims, and an expensive auto stereo system; clothing and shoes; out of town trips and lodging to/at resort-type areas; and walking-around cash.
All of that was separate from what his parents received.

Spanier is out as PS prez---but he and his wife are still on the PS payroll as tenured profs. Spanier also advocated wife-swapping----could be the reason why M/M Spanier are still getting paychecks---they must have some hair-raising stories to tell WRT group sex play on the PS campus.
SPANIER CONTROLLED MILLIONS IN STATE AND FEDERAL EDUCATION GRANTS L/E needs to determine the extent of PS's federal, state and local govt grants which emanate from an assortment of govt entities.....that might have covertly subsidized pedophile activities.
Besides the DOE, grants could have been issued by the EPA and DOJ for various campus projects----including monies private Foundations from a variety of private charitable organizations AND funding from more traditional sources, such as corporate and private foundations. If the entire department knew (and could be proven to have known) and did nothing, yes.
If the chairman obstructed investigation into allegations that the professor was buggering kids, yes, eliminate the entire department.
With the level of complicity that the administration of Penn State has shown, you fans of NCAA ball should be happy that more people aren’t calling for the school to be burnt to the ground.
Maybe Penn State’s punishment should be the same as the one the NCAA gave the basketball program at Syracuse U.

PLANNED PARENTHOOD PEDOPHILIA CONTINUED—SEXUALIZING CHILDREN
(CNSNews.com) – By the time they leave elementary school, children should be able to “define sexual orientation,” and by the eighth grade be able to “define emergency contraception and its use,” according to a report containing controversial new recommendations for sex education in U.S. public schools.
“Ideally, comprehensive sexuality education should start in kindergarten and continue through 12th grade,” says the “National Sexuality Education Standards” report, drawn up by a range of advocates, academics and public education officials.
The Future of Sex Education (FoSE), an initiative started by sex education advocates, developed the standards “to create a strategic plan for sexuality education policy and implementation.”
Also involved are the American School Health Association, the National Education Association Health Information Network – the non-profit arm of the nation’s largest teacher’s union, the NEA – the American Association for Health Education and the Society of State Leaders of Health and Physical Education.
An advisory committee includes senior officials from Planned Parenthood and the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN).
The 45-page report determines “age-appropriate” guidelines for comprehensive sexuality education in the areas of anatomy, identity, pregnancy, sexually-transmitted diseases (STDs) and others. “Specifically, the National Sexuality Education Standards were developed to address the inconsistent implementation of sexuality education nationwide and the limited time allocated to teaching the topic,” reads the report.
The authors argue too little time is devoted to instruction in HIV, pregnancy and STD prevention – a median total of 3.1 hours in elementary school, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
In its rationale for sex education in public schools, the report says there is “a pressing need to address harassment, bullying and relationship violence in our schools, which have a significant impact on a student’s emotional and physical well-being as well as on academic success.”
Standards to be introduced in kindergarten and be met by the second grade include: “Identify different kinds of family structures” and “Demonstrate ways to show respect for different types of families.”
Recommendations for students by the time they reach age seven include that they [u]se proper names for body parts, including male and female anatomy” and “[p]rovide examples of how friends, family, media, society and culture influence ways in which boys and girls think they should act.”
Starting in the third grade, and upon completion of the fifth – when most children are 10 years old – students should be able to “[d]efine sexual orientation as the romantic attraction of an individual to someone of the same gender or a different gender” and “[i]dentify parents or other trusted adults of whom students can ask questions about sexual orientation.”
By completion of the eighth grade, the report says, students should be able to “[d]ifferentiate between gender identity, gender expression and sexual orientation,” “[e]xplain the range of gender roles,” and “[d]efine emergency contraception and its use.”
Upon completion of middle school, students should be able to “[a]nalyze external influences that have an impact on one’s attitudes about gender, sexual orientation and gender identity”; “[a]ccess accurate information about gender identity, gender expression and sexual orientation”; “[c]ommunicate respectfully with and about people of all gender identities, gender expressions and sexual orientations”; “[e]xplain the health benefits, risks and effectiveness rates of various methods of contraception, including abstinence and condoms”; and “[d]escribe the steps to using a condom correctly.”
And by the time they graduate from high school students should be expected to “[d]efine emergency contraception and describe its mechanism of action” and “[a]ssess the skills and resources needed to become a parent.”
The report includes a glossary that defines gender expression, gender identity, gender roles, and transgenderism. “National Resources” for teachers, listed in the report, include GLSEN and Planned Parenthood Advocates for Youth, an organization that supports federal legislation for comprehensive sex education policy.
While the standards include references to abstinence, the FoSE advocates against abstinence-only programs. “Today, as the pendulum swings away from abstinence-only-until-marriage programs, advocates for comprehensive sex education are challenged to remain vigilant on the policy front, making certain that we maintain gains against this failed effort,” FoSE says on its Web site.
FoSE lists Focus on the Family, Concerned Women for America, Moral Majority and the Eagle Forum as groups that “spearheaded campaigns to discredit comprehensive sexuality education.
No he would be the faculty adviser to the LGBT student organization complete with a separate office and budget.
It couldn’t be more obvious that the Penn State community and the people around it care more about their precious football program and the money it brings in than anything else in the world. That’s why this coverup happened in the first place, and why the program needs be taken away from them.
Actually, if they were Penn State fans, the penalty will encourage them to keep quiet. After all, they wanted to stop Sandusky, not destroy their sport teams.
If you punish the people who report the crimes, they won’t report the crimes.
This isn’t like paying off athletes, where the students got something, and the sports program got something. The sports program and the students had nothing to do with this — it was a person committing crime, and people covering up the crime.
If this was an english professor, would they step in and remove all the college of arts and sciences scholarships?
You know, if this is appropriate, why don’t governments all around the country cut off all taxpayer funds to elementary and secondary schools when teachers are found to have been having sex with students?
Why are sports the only thing where we think the sports should be punished for the actions of the adults?

I was banned from another site for saying that Sandusky committed sickening homosexual rape. That was too inflammatory. I was flamed by others who said that any child abuse is bad, regardless of gender, and that it’s wrong to focus on the homosexual aspects of this.
The majority of Catholic priests committing abuse did so against boys and young men, but that similarly was never reported.
I think that something would have been done about Sandusky years ago, if he had abused little girls instead of little boys.

I fail to see how mass punishment of university faculty and students, sanctions against entire sports programs, that had nothing to do with Sandusky and his cabal of enablers, “teaches” anyone anything...
...I’m curious as to what you mean when you say ‘mass punishment of faculty and students’...do you mean that they won’t be able to watch football for awhile? That’s considered mass punishment?
...In actuality, that’s an inconvenience, which hardly ends with Beaver Stadium deprived students...many people are inconvenienced every day. I went to three different colleges, none of whom fielded a football team...an annoying, but totally livable inconvenience for a huge football fan such as myself.

Many people here are trying to prove how virtuous they are by attacking people who had absolutely nothing to do with Sandusky. They get caught up in anger against whoever they are told to be angry against.
None of these people are willing to make the effort to find out what really happened. None of them mention the Second Mile foundation Sandusky used. None of them mention the local prosecutor who went missing after investigating Sandusky. None of them care about the homosexual network that obviously gave support to Sandusky.
The answer is not to punish the innocent. The answer is not to let the guilty go unpunished. We need to go after the people behind this.
That said, if the NCAA punishes Penn State for something unrelated to competitive advantages that might have been gained, Penn State will sue and win...
...number one, you have no idea if they’d win such a suit or not, and number two, the last place PSU wants to be right now is in court, with this drama staying in the public eye...the NCAA could easily charge PSU with weak internal compliance controls, something the Association is very big on, and then, do whatever they deem just...unless you can point to the rule in the NCAA playbook that stipulates punitive action is limited to on field competitive advantages...
Ironically, Paterno was one of the coaches who always held his athletes to academic standards, even the minorities
I graduated from PSU, and while there 2 of my dorm mates dated 2 PSU football players and they used to be around the halls frequently- they were Franco Harris and Lydell Mitchell
It was pretty common joke that many of these football players, especially the minorities, majored in “business” (Insurance, or something soft) but they did have to get and keep up the grades. Jo-Pa was, for them, like a strict male authority figure many of them never had before in their lives and he really motivated them to succeed on and off the field.
I just went back to look up the post college careers of Lydell and Franco and found that these guys did pretty good for themselves and others

I think Penn State’s road games would have gotten ugly. Opposing fans would be merciless on any Penn State fans who travelled with the team.
